I've been on IV Rocephin for 9 weeks with no change, just started Azithromycin a week ago, and now the right side of my face is totally numb.

Is this is a good sign or should I call my LLMD?

Well it is a sign you are killing off the sprockets. The neuro toxin they release when they die cause symptoms like that.

Still it would be a good thing to tell your doctor. He can tell you more and make sure everything is ok.

Sounds like Bell's Palsy. My ex-husband had it. Definitely tell your doctor.

Well, good grief. Hubby kept saying yesterday his mouth/chin were numb. I couldn't understand what would be causing that. Dumb me.

Hello Kawai,

When I had a lot of die off with my herxes my face would become numb. It was very scarey the first time it happened, it felt like novocaine from the dentist office.

I think it is still a good idea to call your LLMD also, and hang in there it will get better.

I got Bell's Palsy two months into treatment (not to scare you) it has almost completely resolved, tiny left over)

The best I can offer is the last time that happened to me It was suggessted I drink lots of water with lemon for detox and take and epson salt bath to detox thoose toxins.

Hope that helps.

Definitely tell the doc.

My chin and lower lip have felt numb and tingly for over a year now and it was one of the first symptoms that helped us indicate Lyme.

Good luck!

Numbness has been a persistent problem for me. It used to affect my face, hands, feet and at it's worst, my entire body was once numb.

That was when I was being seen by regular Drs who weren't Lyme literate, and was THE symptom that led me to the internet to try to figure out what what was wrong w/me.

After almost 2 full years of abx, and now other alternative and herbal txs, I just have slight, lingering touches of numbness in my hands, feet and legs. I wish it would go away completely, but I'm very glad it isn't as bad as it had been.

So I guess my message is, 1. don't be surprised
if other parts of your body become affected by numbness, and 2. it will get better w/ abx and other treatments, so hang in there. Recovery is a painfully slow process.

When I was on Azithromycin my entire body felt numb for 4 days! It was really weird and hard for me to eat because I felt liek I was chewing weird but it went away. I do however think it was die off because I was also in a Lyme fog the entire time and slept alot. I have also had tingling on my forehead that will move down my face sometimes.
