I know that you can not have alcohol while taking flagyl but I think I might have made a mistake today.
My hubby took me out for dinner to a Japenese restuarant today. It's the kind of place that cooks all the food in front of you.
They sprayed the grill and lit everything on fire in front you. They used all kinds of sauces to cook with.
It didn't even dawn on me that there could have been alcohol in this stuff.
I am so so so sick tonight. I ate at about 6 and around 10 tonight I started to feel awful.
I am really light headed and sick to my stomach. I feel like I am going to be sick any minute. It reminds me of my early twenties when I drank to much and then paid for it the next day.
Could this reaction be from taking flagyl yesterday and having something cooked with alcohol today?

i'd be more likely to say a touch of food poisoning or something else.
if you cook with alcohol (and I have a lot of recipes that use alcohol, even cakes), the alcohol is burned off by the cooking and only the flavor is left.
i'd look at how they cooked their meat too...

That's possible too!

Thanks guys.
I thought about food poisoning too. It makes me wonder thuogh because my hubby had the same meal as I did and he is fine.
I can't believe how awful I feel. Maybe I am just getting a bug or something..who knows.
I had such a great day before this too. Felt wonderful. My herx from the Rocephin was mind blowing and I was so happy it was passing.
I guess I will have to wait it out and see. My head is just pounding and I wish I would just get sick aready if that is what is going to happen. I have that awful watery mouth thing going on...the kind that happens right before you toss your cookies.

Hey Kit.. sorry you feel so lousy. I hope this passes soon.
My first immediate thought was an MSG reaction (monosodium glutamate). My son is very sensitive to MSG and reacts the same way you described. Sometimes his reactions are delayed by several hours.
Just a thought.

hadn't thought of that but my husband is allergic to msg too and has the same reaction.
good thought.

Kit,
Sorry that you're so sick, hope you're doing better! I'm on Flagyl and I feel like that for 3 hours after I take it...everytime! It's a nasty nasty antibiotic!
I really dread taking my doses! Posted by dontlikeliver (Member # 4749) on :
My doc told me to avoid mouthwash also while on Flagyl.

Absolutely!, since most contain alcohol.

You have to be off flagyl for 3 days before you can take a drink of alcohol.
