I've had excruciating pain coming from 2 molars. I would cry while eating from the pain. Dentist said one molar is cracked, and the other has a big cavity.
So, she suggests I get crowns. I did finally get them. Now it's 13 weeks later, and I still have the same pain like before when I eat something sweet. She says maybe it's nerve damage or a side-shift ???
I am sooo scared of losing teeth and nerve damage. I delayed getting the caps and I still can't eat comfortably. Lots $$$ spent!!
I hesitate to extract my teeth (with the caps), but I've heard that root canals for Lymies are bad (toxic build-up). I don't know of any other alternatives
Any thoughts on root canals etc. anyone PLEASE!

Sorry to hear about the pain you are experiencing. Although I can't offer anything definitive, here are my thoughts:
sometimes a molar tooth will remain sensitive for awhile after a large filling is placed and will settle down after a period of time. You might ask your dentist what would help with the pain.
Secondly, it is my understanding that a root canal is not effective and cannot be placed in a cracked tooth.
From what I have experienced personally with seven root canals and Lyme disease, and from all I have read, I would not recommend one. I had my root canal teeth extracted and since then my constant daily headaches stopped completely.
Perhaps you could take your xrays and go to another dentist for a second opinion if you cannot get a satisfactory answer from your current dentist. Is there a biological dentist near you?

Root Canals are as bad of healthy people as they are for Lymies. Lymies are sick already and the healthy people will turn be not so healthy a bit later. Kid gave you a good answer.
Root canals are not the solution. Read the "Root Canal Coverup" if you have doubts.

Thanks kidsatlast. My dentist is a biological dentist. I don't know for sure, but I don't think she'd suggest root canals.
I've heard that root canals can cause symptoms. Glad you've gotten relief!

i had 1 root canal; never again! they had my head practically laid down on the floor; started panic attacks.

I wish I had known how bad a root canal is for those us with Lyme before I had my done. That's really when my major problems with Lyme started and now I'm having it removed.

Had a root canal removed two weeks ago. It wasn't fun.
But I have nursed this tooth along for five years trying one thing and another. Enough is enough.
I have since been able to reduce my cortisol 5mg, so it must have been putting quite a strain on my body.
BTW, I have had much more success with onlys than with crowns. One more suggestion for you though.
You might try having your sentist work on the bite to get the pressure off that tooth. Good luck!

I'm a little confused. I've been told I have an abscess underneath a crown and a root canal is recommended.
Are you saying persons with lyme shouldn't have root canals?
Shouldn't all the antibiotics I've been on almost a year now have taken care of the abscess?
