Hi,
It seems that many change abx often and I understand that is necessary for reasons of becoming resistant or co-infections. However, I have also read stories of people sttayin on the same combo for 3 years and getting well.

What is the longest you stayed on one combo or one antibiotic?

I have been on the same combo for 9 months - seems to be slow and steady - but will be adding Bicilin shots soon to current meds.

My LLMD commented recently that if LD gets under control, often you won't need other meds, because your immune system will take care of the rest.

Thanks for replies.

Hi Lymebytes! It seems like I can only handle any abx or supplement for aobut three months till I start having probs. Usually GI problems.

I have been on Ceftin for most of the two years I have been treated. It is still working, but not as well.

I am very intolerant of many antibiotics so I stay with what I can tolerate. I have added in several others at times.

Hi - I think I have found my group! [Wink]

I always thought antibiotics will stop working on the bacteria (because the bacteria becomes resistant) if used long term.

10 years on Doxy?? Question is, does it help that person feel better? Are they functional or well on it?

CaliforniaLyme, have you considered Bicillin shots? Or is the Amoxi strong enough and working for you?

I find the penicillins and the macrolides the most tolerable and don't like to stray from them.

This is interesting - thanks.

When you say you are better on ABX, what does that mean exactly? Whenever I am on ABX, I get so sick I feel like I am going to die. Off abx, I have the same problems as ever, however, I was able to get rid of some neuropathy and the fevers. I don't understand how we can tell whether or not we're better or if we know we ever will be. Has anyone with chronic Lyme ever felt 90% better? If so, how long did were they under ABX treatment and how sick were they? When they say they are better, do they mean, they can now workout five times a week, have a full-time job, volunteer, go to church, weed the yard, cook dinner, etc? I'm very confused and alone in this search for wellness.

I'm scared to go back on abx and have been told by my Lyme doc that I was toxic with the abx, and that was enough to scare me.

I was on my first med, Ketek for 9 month. I took Mepron with it for 7 of those months and Omnicef for 2. I then did Omnicef with various other things for the last 10 months.

I was sick for 5 years before starting treatment.

I have been taking abx for 19 months and I am 90-95% better most of the time. I have days, perhaps 2-3 a month, where I am about 50%.

My last CD57 was 40 so I am on my way.

I work fulltime, exercise, enjoy my family, and live my life. I am thankful for my LLMD daily because he helped me get my life back.

Hang in there!

Lucy
