I would love to hear from anybody who may have had a similair experience. I went to an orthopedist with a sore knee which I really thought was running related or perhaps gout which I had in my big toe in May. I have developed and diagnosed myself with bursitis in my elbows around the same time. Gout is something you want to avoid, short term and long.
The orthopedist snaps a few xrays and they are fine. He drains some fluid from my knee and tests it for lyme and gout. The PCR for lyme was positive which is not hard to believe because I was treated for lyme between 2001 and 2003 by a very good LLMD in HP NY.
The orthopedist was not terribly interested in my past history of lyme and babesia. He did prescribe doxy 100 BID that I increased to 200 BID and have been taking for almost a week. I can't say I panicked but it didn't take me long to call and get an appointment with my old LLMD on Wed.
My knee is not as painful and as restricted as a few days ago. I am finally walking without a limp. Could the doxy be working? Some other symptom have included some swelling on my right ankle and elbow, a feeling like I might have a slight temp, and muscle soreness in my right leg. I'm wondering if these are symptoms of a more recent infection? Is the a nexus of evil between gout, bursitis and lyme? Has anyone been down this road?

It sounds like your Lyme is back. Dr. H will be able to answer all your questions .. he's my doc too. What a lifesaver!!!
The doxy could be working already, but you also know how Lyme is, the pain comes and goes and moves around.

I think gout and bursitis can very easily have their roots in LYME. You may have been bitten again and not realized it.
Either way, get back to that LLMD and get well!!!
PS..Yes, the doxy could be relieving the pain already.
