What happens when you are rebitten while in treatment?!

I have two tiny bullseye bites on both back hips. I don't have animals, haven't been hiking, take precautions....have no idea how this happened.

I'm tired (what's new) but I've been really busy running my kids all over the place.

I see my LLMD in two weeks. I have pictures of the bites to take along.

I'm on big Amox doses and working my way up on Malarone.

Can new bites make you worse while you're gulping abx anyway?

Hi Wiser,

Sorry you are sick.

I have had a lot of acquaintances and friends with lyme and coinfections claim that bull's eye rashes have reappeared during treatment in different places on their body and they know they were not rebitten.

Could just be a herxheimer like reaction to treatment.

Take care...

I agree and have talked to several people who had bullseye and other rashes appear and reappear during treatment or in flare-ups.

If you were rebitten, one would hope the treatment you are on would cover the new infection as well. Hard to say. Some treatments don't work as well as others on a different strain of Bb.

p.s. - I was bitten twice. Was not on treatment when the second bite happened many years after the first one. The disease was more immediately more severe than the first round.

I showed up at my LLMD's with a bullseye in the middle of my back last month. Have been in treatment for over a year.

and last week when it was so hot here(still is as a matter of fact) I pulled my hair back and there was a tick attached to my ear!

I got all excited about sending the bugger off for testing for co-infections since Lyme is a done deal but my LLMD told me that unless I had money to burn-it was a costly process to have a tick tested and the results weren't reliable.

So I got my hammer out instead and whacked that SUCKER (pun intended) from here to kingdom come, after I had pulled it off my ear of course. [bonk]

LLMD just said we will continue to monitor symptoms.

I don't even live an outdoor life-although I walk the dog 3 times a day since they won't let me throw her out the kitchen window on a long leash anymore-but she is treated for fleas and ticks and I have never, repeat never seen a tick on her.

We're doomed, we're all doomed! [dizzy]

Anyway- to answer your question more directly-good you're already hooked up with LLMD and taking anibiotics. Also good you took pictures.

Take Care,
Carol

Hi wiserforit

I am so sorry this had to happen [Frown]

There are some people who have the bulls eye rash's that come out while herxing & in treatment. This happened to me several times. Or It could be a new tick bite. Either way it's got to be scary.

Just thank God you have a LLMD & are on abx. I would second cave's suggestion to give your LLMD a call to makie sure amoxy is as good as doxy if you suspect a recent tick bite.

Hang in there [group hug]

I know that a lot of people have rashes that reappear during treatment. Hopefully it is jsut a herx rash and you did not get reinfected. Just because you have not been outdoors does not mean that you could not have gotten reinfected... I just had a tick crawling on my leg in my apartment, and I live in Florida where Lyme "does not exist".

Thank you everyone for all the responses!

I know that as I ramp up on Malarone, I get a lot of old symptoms. But, I suddenly feel weak, nauseous and exhausted like I did when I was first infected years ago.

Seems odd that it would happen this way with all the Amox in my system. Doxy gave me blisters all over my hands, so I'm not sure whether my LLMD would switch.

Get to see LLMD this Friday. In the meantime, I feel like I have the flu only with little bitty bullseyes on my back.

Is this a test? Haven't we all passed it yet? I call "Uncle." [dizzy]

Best to all,

and so it goes...

Hi wiserforit

Mepron made me very nauseated, tired, depressed and generally sick all over. It's a tough med to do but works good for the babs symptoms.

It sounds like this could be a bad herx or med side effect.

hope you get some answers from your appointment coming up

hang in there [group hug]
