I haven't had this in years and years (about 7 now since this symptom) but I wonder about it!!
Okay, I was just reminescing about life with Lyme today and I remembered a weird symptom that I can't remember being mentioned so I am curious whether it was just a weird ME thing. I may have mentioned it before but may not have because it is kind of weird so I may have kept it to myself. I had a week a few months after I first got sick when my body was changing a lot for the worse all the time- a week where I was CHARGED and shocked myself on my car on the dryer on anything metal- over and over and over at just GIANT shocks- just like static electricity but at 100 times normal. Seriously.
I have always wondered what that was, because it was very weird. I am not talking about those jolts which I would get SEPARATELY from the outside world- those came later- I am talking about just getting shocked repeatedly over and over and over at very high intensity from metal or static!!!
It was fearful for me to TOUCH my car after a couple of days of it
Medically, scientifically wondered what it was!!! Anyone know?

A static shock occurs when the surface of the second material, negatively charged with electrons, touches a positively-charged conductor.
Think about what was negatively charged and what was positively charged.

You just jarred my memory.
I think it was back in 1986. I was standing over the stove cooking, and while I was stirring the food in the pot, my forehead touched the range hood, and I immediately felt electricity go through my body.
Not just a quick shock either, like when the air is dry and you touch something. But I actually HEARD and FELT a prolonged buzz.
It never happened before, and I wasn't sure what I felt, so I leaned my forehead against the metal range hood again. Same thing - I got zapped. A prolonged buzz, and I pulled away again.
It was so scary that I actually called the rental office and asked them to check my stove and make sure it was grounded - they said it was.
Is this what you are experiencing? It hasn't happened since though, though I do get a lot of regular static shocks now.
I also noticed that I need to stay away from windows during thunderstorms. During one 2005 storm, a bolt of lightning almost got me twice at the window - same storm, too.

This was extremem for me also during the onset of my illness. I too was afraid to touch my car. Also, touching a person gave me a shock and I would recoil when my partner moved to kiss me.
I still get this from time to time. It is miserable
If you know what and whya and how to get rid of it I'd love to hear about it. I have mentioned to a few LLMD's and even they don't know.

You know, until you posted this, I honestly thought to this day that my stove really wasn't grounded, and that's what had happened to me.
I thought though that I should also mention that it was in this year (1986) that my OCD took on new proportions. I had only had some checking rituals around this time, but it GREW into a cleaning, washing, ordering nightmare.
Also, not sure if this is significant, but I lived near and worked on a Naval base (Norfolk).
Could I have been exposed to radar???

Tailz- maybe your stove wasn't grounded- because what I am talking about it sounds like what Robi has- mine is gone now- I only had it for a week but it was one of the weirdest weeks of my life. It was like my electricity was ramped up a few volts amps kilowatts whatever!!!! It was weird!! But for me it was transient- thank goodness!!!

Mine was transient, too, though. And I even had the apartment manager send somebody up to make sure my stove was grounded. They said it was, too.
I don't remember this happening repeatedly though - like with everything metal I touched - just the range hood. And my ex didn't get zapped when he touched it.
And YES - it was like MEGA electricity - complete with a buzz and voltage vibrating through my body.

Ah, the acidity, funny- I wonder if that is realted to Babesiosis- in one of the WA1 abstracts it said that a finding had been disruption of the acid-base balance in the bodies of the hamsters or whatever they were!!!

Wow...that is just too weird. I too have had periods on and off where I was absolutely terrified of touching my car, because I knew what was going to happen.. Never, ever even gave a thought to it, until you just mentioned it... Even after I started getting really sick, I never related it to my illness.. Just thought it was because it was that time of year, but I have to admit, no one else was getting shocked as bad as I was, unless it was me they were touching.. I had remembered this being discussed some time ago. It goes back to '05.
I remember starting to close the car door with my shoulder because the shock was so painful, and loud, and EVERY TIME I GOT OUT OF THE CAR! I had no idea this was a symptom until recently.
I find that symptoms are like puzzle pieces...they all start to pull together and you get those..."OH YEAH" moments. Just when I think my 1001 symptoms are the whole picture...
