Hi-Since being diagnosed with Lyme, my friends are posing questions, and of course I direct them here.
I was stumped when one of them asked me about the vaccine that used to be around. She was vaccinated several years ago (thanks to an overzealous doc...). Now she thinks she may have contracted Lyme, and is waiting for labs to come back.
We suspect antibodies will show up as IGG. Will it? And can that be differentiated from 'true' lyme infection antibodies?
By the way, we live on the Coast of Massachusetts, in the "Tick Capital" of the state, where suspicions of Lyme Disease is quite reasonable.
Thanks for any insight on this.

I truly have know idea. I know I had a hepatitis B vaccine, and something did initially show some reactivity - one of the values - but because I had the vaccine, this was expected.
But I will bump your thread up so that someone here can help you.

Interestingly, about two days before I got a full blown symptoms for the first time, I had a TB titer placed. Probably just coincidence.

I recently read about the vaccine....wasn't it called Lymerix?
An unusual percentage of people in the study group went on to be
serologically and symptomatically positive for Lyme.
If you research the vaccine, it will say that it was pulled from the market due to low sales.
I would have my friend see a LLMD.....
Given the vaccine and where you live.
Hugs,
Geneal

Talked to a lady the other week that has lyme arthritis from lymerix vaccine. I am also pretty sure after there vaccine failed, they took out band 31. The drug company and CDC are working on another vaccine, so they took out band 31 and possibly some of the other bands. It's amazing that anyone tests CDC positive for lyme disease.
