I started a regimen of abx, malarone, zithro, difulcan (sp.?).

What kind of Herx should i expect. Thsi is my first go around with any abx for lyme.

I felt good yesterday, better than i had felt in a long time, but that could have been the b12 high. Today, dragging, ears ringing louder than they used to. My left arm is seizing up, cramping and my face / lips are tighting?

These are some of the symptoms i had before this started. Do the same symptoms usually get worse in a herx or should i get "sick, like the flu, etc"

I'm also very nausiated (sp.)...

Give me some insight please. I hope i herx, as this will confirm i have lyme and not a neuro. disorder like als or MS.

rgds,

jamie

When you are herxing, you generally have a worsening of symptoms.

I'm female, so mine line up with ovulation and around my cycle I useto have a big one. MS doesn't do this.

Originally, they lasted for a week.

Oh and Zithromax gave me nausea, but I stuck it out for about 6 weeks.

Some help was to take the medicine halfway through the meal.

Yes, it was zithromax that did it (nausea) to me.

So, if i get this right, the symptoms i've been having should get worse. LIke cramps and twitching will get worse, then better?

thx,

Jamie

Be sure you eat enough with your meds, it helps me with the nausea. Also, you need fat with the Malarone.

My herxes in the beginning were a worsening of the symptoms. The first few left me so weak I needed help walking.

After six months of treatment, I do better now during a herx than I used to during a good day.

Be sure you are doing things to detox, that helps a lot, not just with herxing, but overall.

....sure sounds like a herx....

some of us have found that zith is tolerated best on an empty stomach...that way it absorbs within a few minutes and doesn't have time to hang around in there and upset your digestion.

I'll admit though that I'm used to spicy hot food and little upsets my stomach.

Charlie, oddly enough, everything upsets my stomach, but hot spicy foods always sit right with me.

I've not been on Zith ... I'm taking Biaxin, but I'll remember what you said if I ever take it. [Smile]

What were your symptoms before dx, just curious?

Mine??....joint and muscle pain and swelling, sweats, chills, peripheral neuropathy(burning feet) and a host of other stuff not quite as bad but still disturbing.

Lafayette, huh? we have good friends there...I enjoy the place but prefer crawfish or boudin to chicken and sausage gumbo..

Hey,

Be careful of the ear ringing. It is a side effect of Zithromax and can lead to permanent hearing damage! I would ask your doctor about it. I was on zithromax and herxed pretty badly. Basically it was the worsening of all of my symptoms.

Good luck,
Lindsay

Hubby always has total exhaustion when he has a herx. He also had reoccurence of joint pain. His brain fog gets worse also. He did have some numbness in his face also.

It will get better. Take care.

Zithro made me Very sick. I was so nausiated and eventually had to go off due to loss of too much weight.
Its a strong med and is very good at getting rid of the lyme.

I wish you luck with your first round of meds!!!
You will probably herx, but stay strong, its the lyme dying which is pretty awesome!
