Anyone have this??

It's been happening every night for the past week, along with worsening of other symptoms, and the sensation that my head may explode!

Ellie, I get this too. It comes and goes but I'm constantly popping my ear pressure, like I'm landing in a plane.

Ouch ouuuueee! NOT fun!

Sorry to hear about it.

Are you on zith or doxy by chance?

I had something like this associated with a tooth infection on the same side. Not fun.

I burst my left ear drum back in the beginning of 2005. There was blood in it. Prior to this I was told my ear was 'injected', but not infected. Yeah right.

I lost gum tissue especially on that side, too, so it could be an infection in the tooth, too, that ended up in the ear or the other way around.

I still have swooshing in my ears when I lay down, though it is somewhat improved since I started minocyline and quinine. I think the mino helps my ears. Quinine helps my lungs.

Tincup,

I'm on zith now, was on both doxy and zith.

Is this a common side effect?

I get this when I Herx, either monthly or from AB's

I take Diamox to releive the cranial pressure in the head, it really helps.

I had this reaction not from a herx, but from the zith.

My llmd switched me from zith to ketek and the problem resolved.

Be careful on zith, it could cause permanant hearing loss.

Hi Elle

This ear pain, pressure, popping was one of my first lyme symptoms...it is much better now after two years abx, but it is/was one of the most persistant. Mine was way worse on my right side.

Seems babs treatment may have helped. But its not clear as the popping is not gone, just much less pronounced.

Funny how your expectation of or recollection of normal fades longer you're sick.

Yes, it was my very first symptom too!

Then it went away for 5 months, and all of a sudden it's back. Very bizarre.

It's comforting to see others have been dealing with this.

I was starting to worry that I had an ear infection on top of everything else.

Has anyone other than Tailz had their ear drum actually burst??

I swear it's going to happen some nights. It feels like a baloon ready to pop! And I think I will be happy when it does; hopefully it will relieve the pressure.
