Somethig is wrong. Very wrong. I know that the first few months of treatment aren't easy but I have gone from at least being able to work part-time to being completely housebound. I don't think this is normal.
Could it be that this particular combo of drugs is just not right for me? I know other people who have gone through chronic Lyme abx and both have said this isn't normal. One was able to work full-time and the other was able to attend school.
the other thing is that both of them were doing IV versus oral abx. I would appreciate any and all thoughts on this.
My LLMD will NOT talk to me outside of appts. I see him Tuesday.

I don't know. Most of us get WAY worse while on antibiotics. I know I wouldn't have been able to work during treatment. I didn't have that problem since I was already disabled when I began treatment.
Maybe it's time to find a new LLMD if he won't answer questions between appointments. That would not be OK in my book.

When I herx I am completly useless. When I say this I meen all I do is lay in the same spot all day with no desire to eat, I am weak, and am in so much pain.
I also think I could do more before treatment. You mentioned people you know that were on IV. I know that people on IV rocephin do not herx that badly, I'm actually on it now and have been able to get some function back.
Good luck, Lindsay

I am on the same treatment plan and let's just say a week into treatment I was in bed for 3 days straight and ended up in the ER needing IV fluids/shots of Zofran (for the nausea). I have SLOWLY been getting a little better but still feel awful. Today marks Week 2 of this treatment. Do you go to Dr. D? Please feel free to PM me to discuss more (I can't figure out how to do that...computer challenged).

Also on the same protocol 2 weeks today oral.
I have been ok, no major herx yet. I did IV Rocephin before this and I did not herx on that. I herxed when I took doxy.
Good Luck

If you're having major herx's can't you back off your dosage and ramp up slowly?
I am due to go on Biaxin and Plaquinil (I hope) in the very near future and my doc said that we could ramp up the dosage to help avoid the herx. I'm self-employed and I'm trying like heck not to miss work, let alone life.
