This is not something that happens daily, but when it does, its scary.
My son will be walking along and fall for no reason. He says his leg just gives out on him and it takes a while for him to be able to move. [15 minutes, give or take] He will get pain in his back with this.
Yesterday it was both legs and he could not move off the floor for a while. When I seen him he told me his legs gave out, couldn't move them and was in a tremendous amount of pain in his lower back.
I carried him to the couch and it was a good half hour before the pain subsided and he was able to move his legs.
Does this sound like a neuro symptom?
Is there a cause for this that I am missing other than being a Lyme symptom?
Thanks ks mom

yes, I call mine neuromuscular lyme...actually I have lyme induced MS. My difficulty these past few months is that my feet feel glued to the floor-can't lift.
I have to use my hands to pull my legs up by my pant legs. I use crutches too.
Hope he finds something that works. I just started a product called Mynax.
It has Calcium EAP, Magnesium EAP, & Potassium EAP. Supposed to be helpful for neurological stuff. Got link from an Alternative MS message board. http://koehlerusa.com/Netscape/mynax_cu.htm
B-12 and B-6 I've been told helps too. I've gotta get moving on those.

Has he had x-rays and/or mris of the spine? Since there is pain associated with it, there might be something structural constricting a nerve.
Lyme can make structural problems much more painful.

dmc, Is this something that will get progressively worse over time if left untreated? My son is 11 and already has arthritis, headaches,GI issues on a daily basis. The neuro issue comes and goes. Thanks for the info on the supplements. I am going to look at the link you sent. Can supplements be taken in liquid form?
Aniek, His xrays have come up normal. Chiropractic care didn't seem to help this one way or another.
Like most symptoms we have or had, it started out as an every once in a while thing and has become more frequent over the last year.

I had that!!!! And for me it did get progressively worse but I was really really neuro and really really bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was on orals 1 year with continued progression and no substantive response and then IV Rocephin for 9 months that got me back to basically normal!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have had only 1 symptom last 6 years, left knee flare pre period- lasts 1-3 minutes a MONTH!
So don't worry- with treatment he can get better!!
