I know someone who is certain she was infected within 3 hours. I agree with cave that it could be within seconds given the right circumstances.

Cave one of our county vector control guys has Lyme and went to your doctor. Is that who you meet with?
I first was diagnosed with babs before LD and by a duck who thought not much about the situation and was not helpful with much of a treatment plan. The county vector control man told me do not mess around with babesia and I took his advice.
The doctor was on CBS 5 in San Francisco. I called the news room right away and then left the doctor a voice mail to stop giving out harmful information.

There is some mis-information in this article but at the bottom it says "The biology of soft ticks differs from that of hard ticks, in that meals last only short periods of time( 1 hour) and disease can be transmitted in LESS than ONE MINUTE." :

Short report: duration of tick attachment required for transmission of powassan virus by deer ticks.

Infected deer ticks (Ixodes scapularis) were allowed to attach to naive mice for variable lengths of time to determine the duration of tick attachment required for Powassan (POW) virus transmission to occur. Viral load in engorged larvae detaching from viremic mice and in resulting nymphs was also monitored.
Ninety percent of larval ticks acquired POW virus from mice that had been intraperitoneally inoculated with 10(5) plaque-forming units (PFU). Engorged larvae contained approximately 10 PFU. Transstadial transmission efficiency was 22%, resulting in approximately 20% infection in nymphs that had fed as larvae on viremic mice. Titer increased approximately 100-fold during molting.
Nymphal deer ticks efficiently transmitted POW virus to naive mice after as few as 15 minutes of attachment, suggesting that unlike Borrelia burgdorferi, Babesia microti, and Anaplasma phagocytophilum, no grace period exists between tick attachment and POW virus transmission.

Cave tell him he helped save me from going un-diagnosed for LD for 16 more years. I am so glad he told me babesia is something you do not mess around with unlike the duck who tested me and told me you do not have lyme and you barely tested positive for babesia so you may not have it.
Dr. S. says you either have babs or you do not. It is saying like you are only moderately pregnant. You either are pregnant or you are not.
The head of our Vector Control is another story. I will try to see if I can find a email he sent me. I was hoping Mr. K. would educate him more about ticks and the diseases they carry because he has no clue but thinks he knows it all.
I also talked to a man named Fred in the Marin agricultural office who is very mis-informed about the disease and how many ticks carry it. I was hoping Mr. K. would straighten his over paid *** out too. Fred thinks that many people say they have lyme and they do not I guess because it is such a fun disease to have.
I did call CBS 5 and complain and I emailed them too. If anyone else wants to contact them it would be helpful. There is power in numbers.

I WAS GARDENING AT 3 PM-TOOK A SHOWER A 9 PM AND FOUND A TICK EMBEDDED IN MY GROIN-UGH. 6 HOURS-i'VE BEEN SICK WITH BART/BABS AND LYME FOR OVER A YEAR
