My llmd sent out my blood to igenx to test for babesia. I think he wants to treat for both at the same time. Anyone done that, does it matter? jenin

Yes you can treat for both at once - I did. Co-infection testing is often un-reliable so go on symptoms not just test results.

MANY people test negative for babesia, but still have it. So make sure your LLMD gives you at least a trial run of meds for babs to see if you herx.
I was treated with meds for babs for 10 days, then back to lyme meds for 10 days....back and forth until cleared.

I was treated for both at once also. I had a positive test but my son did not, he is doing well with treatment tho.

I am being treated for babs and Lyme now. I did test positive for babs, although my symptoms are pretty indistinguishable.
I'm on zithromax and mepron and my llmd said that whatever's left of the Lyme will be killed by the zithromax.
I just started herxing, so I'm pretty uncomfortable. I'm at work for now since I have things I have to get done by tomorrow when I leave for vacation. Herxing at work - not the best scenario.

I think I went back and forth for about 2 yrs. Don't despair. I've had it longer than you've been alive! [I think! ]

I'm being treated for both. I started treatment Jan. 20th and have made a lot of progress since then.
I am not switching between the two ... I'm taking all meds at the same time.
