Ok- still a newbie and still confused. Dr. says I tested postive for Lyme based on the following Lab Corp tests:

Lyme Disease AB, Quant IgM 6.17
Lyme IgM WB Interp: Postive
Lyme IgG/IgM Ab: 3.08
Lyme AB Interp, EIA: Postive

Western Blot bands 41, 39 and 23 present.

But based on my reading - looks like CDC requires 5 bands on WB to really be a positive?

Maybe I'm still in denial, but could Dr. be wrong? Your thoughts?

CDC requires that a report be filed for the CDC required number of bands, for monitoring purposes only. (I'm guessing to keep down paperwork to a manageable level )

If LabCorp, one of the known to be most pathetic labs said your result was positive, GET YOURSELF TREATED!!!!!QUICKLY!!

The tests are SO inaccurate that many infected test negative, Bullseye & all. Be thankful that you have lab confirmatory proof.

Gee, you're as positive as they get.

The 5 bands rule is for the IGG, not IGM.

Agree!! Band 39 is VERY Lyme-specific!!!!

"Band 39: Unknown what this antigen is, but based on research at the National Institute of Health (NIH), other Borrelia (such as Borrelia recurrentis that causes relapsing fever), do not even have the genetics to code for the 39 kDa antigen, much less produce it. It is the most specific antibody for borreliosis of all."

The CDC criteria requires only that two of the following three bands be positive: 23, 39, and 41.

Guess what? You have all three, so your IgM is CDC positive.

Please don't doubt it. Get treated!

yes, lab corb is known for inaccuracies!

you need to get on antibiotics right away since it can take up to several months to get into LLMDS!

get your dr. who diagnosed you to get you doxycycline 200 mg taken twice daily.

read/print off Dr. B's 05 LYME TREATMENT
GUIDELINES at the beginning of my advise...


also read about light sensitivities in my advise area and about NOIR, no infrared sunglasses to help our overly sensitive eyes!
