I've been real weird about this since being diagnosed with Lyme. I used to always share stuff with my son, but I don't anymore.

I just get paranoid that I will transfer lyme disease to him.

So do you share drinks/food with other people??

Once I found out the keets were found in saliva I stopped sharing food but I did recently toss the dog a tiny piece of steak fat that was too rubbery for me to chew. I sort of forgot about the keets when I did it. I hope I did not give him anything he does not already have. He ate a alligator lizard today too. The dog will eat anything.

Normally I don't. Better safe than sorry. Plus there are other "germs" we may have that are passed easier.. like Salmonella, viruses, Epstein Barr, etc.

I used to share my water bottle with grandson. I quit about two yrs ago, it dawned on me that I really shouldn't be taking any chances.

He's now 6 and I've been worried about him all summer because I pulled a deer tick off of him back in May. He was just coming off abx for strep throat. He's not been himself since and had some weird stomach virus for over 2 weeks.

I stress over all my family and friends and ticks or bug bites. My husband has already had a lyme illness for 6 weeks. One of the lucky ones that took abx and sx disappeared. He doesn't know it but he gets rife treatments with me. Better be save than sorry since we drink after each other and have unprotected sex.

I don't share drinks; food; etc. with my partner. We do other things *carefully*, but basically, want to minimize the risk of transmission. I figure I'll "know" when I'm safe. I'm not.

I agree with Jim, I never did before I don't now.

But, for those of you who don't, do you still kiss your spouse/significant other? Obviously, I mean couples who don't both have Lyme.

When I was very bad with strong symptoms, no, I didn't share food with my small kid, and had lots of 'brain' blockages to kiss hubby.

I still do.

But I'm not neurotic anymore like before. Kids do share food in school/ daycare, and then they'll get in contact with the bacteries sometime sooner or later.

I don't believe lyme can be easily transmitted by salive, but... who knows. Otherwise it would have been an epidemic. I mean, more than it is!

Sex is something else though. If lyme spirochettes are cousins of syphilis... well. Better safe than sorrow.

I sometimes share foods with my kid now, but I don't feel totally comfortable yet. She kisses me on my mouth many times, I can't avoid it always as it feels I don't like her (she's only 3).

She never developed symptoms, with that. But developed symptoms immediately after tick bites!!

I'm muuuuch more afraid of her getting lyme after a tick bite than with me.

Since I've had it many many years and hubby doesn't I don't worry abut kissing him.

I don't share food/drink with anyone and I've even stopped drinking the wine at church for fear of passing the infection. I'd rather be on the cautious side. I wouldn't wish this on ANYone.
