I really want to Dye my hair, but im concerned that with everything going on I will have a reaction..ive never been allergic to the chemicals before...Do you think getting my hair dyed would cause any damage?

I'd be concered about what's in the dyes, especially since we Lymies can retain metals and toxins.

They tell pregnant women not to dye their hair so maybe it is not a good idea. Maybe you could find a natural non-toxic dye.

I use an all natural hair dye from wholefoods called
Herbatint. Love the stuff, works great , no burn, no chemicals.

I die my hair ... bleach parts, too. It's probably not the best thing for me, but I have too much fun with color to give it up. [Big Grin]

I might add, I have very few sensitivities. You might spot test it so that you don't end up having a reaction after your whole head is covered.

If you color/highlight with foils, it doesn't seem to get as close to your scalp as when you do an all-over color.

H All, [group hug]

I just recently started using henna-
It is great.

I had been told that it was yukki and did not cover gray.

I order from http://www.naturalmarket.com/Shop/Brands/index.cfm/b/12634/rfr/gglNMt

It is pre-mixed.
You can use over and over after opening.

It makes your hair very soft.

My beautician is shocked.
She had no idea of the quality of henna.
She nows suggests it for people.

You wash hair first {no conditioner}, apply then rinse out with out.

I bought a natural shampoo for henna from Whole Foods. You can buy shampoo and conditioner at same online site.

TRY IT!!!

I have highlights, so we mix several colors and prepare as I did with reg coloring and highlighing. I ordered 4 colors

It takes 20 minutes vor setting,

Henna ALWAYS goes darker and slight red.

It is perfect for Blonds and redheads or any dark that has some red tints.

Does not fade any faster than normal coloring.

Each bottle is about $6, and you can re -use after opening.

Again, I am pleasantly pleased. [lol]

Good Luck

Peace,
B

i've had chemical sensitivities before; bad, but it BURNT my scalp. i stopped; accept my snow white hair!

what got me was when a co-worker told me my Santa Claus troll earrings ... the good trolls! matched my own white hair! had to color it for a short time then! uffda [dizzy] [lol]

I finally stopped coloring my hair 2 1/2 years ago, after reading that on a scale of one to ten, with ten being the most toxic, all hair dyes are 9.5 or higher.

As soon as I stopped, new hairs started sprouting on my head, and my hair is now much thicker, proving to me that the toxicity was killing the hair and being absorbed into my scalp.

Since Lymies are already too toxic, I think it is probably much better for our health to go natural.

Henna is safe, however, I was told by several hairdressers that hair that is mostly gray will turn pink if henna is used. I also used it myself when I was younger, since I always colored my hair dark auburn, and it was really beautiful for about a year, then started causing a major drying out of my hair, which the hairdresser said " always happens with henna after awhile". I had to cut off my long hair and start over. But, that was a long time ago, so maybe they have improved it.

Hey,

I think they have fined tuned henna.
The one I use makes my hair very soft.

It is already mixed with conditioner.

I agree, hair dye is not wise for us, or anyone.

I have no pink in mine.

It really works well for Stawberry blond, auburn, brow/black with a gentle red highlights.

You can pretty much create what you want by mixing them.

B

Good luck

I had a SEVERE reaction to a hair dye I had used for YEARS during one of my Lyme attacks. Insteads of starting to tingle towards the end of the color, my whole head was on fire within seconds.

I honestly think that the hydrogen peroxide fed one of these bugs that require oxygen - quite possibly malaria. Malaria DOES exist in the US.

If for no other reason, you will retain metals from the hair dye, which is never good.

I've only dyed my hair once since the allergic reaction, and it isn't worth the stress or hair loss to put myself through it anymore.

I stopped coloring my hair too. It is now short which helps.

It took me awhile to be OK with it. You will get it figured out in time with what works for you.

I use a Natural dye from Whole Foods, NatraColor
It is the only one they sell that doesn't have Propylene Gylcol in it (antifreeze)
I don't know why they are putting it in the so called "natural hair dyes"

I am not ready to go totally natural yet

This stuff actually leaves my hair in better condition than it starts. It feels thicker & looks healthier. I also like that if you don't leave it on the full time, it's semi-permanent. I can't keep up with coloring my hair all the time, so it grows out less obvious if you do it that way. [Big Grin]

You can use it right after perming/processing, so you know it's gentle.

Finally....
Truly Gentle Permanent Hair Color.
Color by Robert Craig is the all-new permanent hair color that delivers gorgeous, natural results without a trace of harmful peroxide, ammonia, alcohol or perfume. Plus, built-in conditioners leave the hair silky, luminous and shining with health.

I also like their hairspray, it doesn't do bad things to me either. [Roll Eyes]

PS - I can't use regular color at all, my hair gets fried & breaks off. I've also found that the heat generated by my head causes faster processing times. [Roll Eyes]
