Hi. My girlfriend and I think she has lyme disease. She has almost every symptom, the timing of the tick bite fits and the more we read everything fits. I won't list all the symptoms here, but we've been to the doctor for many odd symptoms and nothing has helped or made sense until we read an article about Lyme disease. Long story short, we have a doctors appointment in 3 weeks with an infectious disease doctor. I've been looking into alternative therapies as well, and toa-free cat's claw came up as having a great effect on curing lyme disease. Still researching it, but we were wondering if getting some in the meantime and getting her started on it now would affect anything to do with the doctors appointment. Would it mess with the lab tests for diagnosis or interfere with any antibiotics she might be put on?

So good of you to do some research.

I don't have the answers but here is a good place to start to understand most ID (infect. disease doctors) who are with the IDSA.

Someone should be along to welcome you. You might check out the Newbie links.

I tend to think herbal medicine could well interfere with tests, but it would be good to get advice from someone with some details.

this article (link below) will help you prepare for meeting with a doctor who may not believe in lyme disease. It would be nice to know what his stance is before you get into to his office.

the article details testing and treatment, too.

You might contact the lyme support group for your area and see which doctors are most respected. Look to your left, third link down.

Good luck.

www.ilads.org is one site with good research.

Hi funk,

Do you say infectious disease doctor or a lyme specialist??

If only infectious disease doctor, I dont' think he'll help you. I've been to 3, they know little or nothing about lyme disease.

I'm a regular user of cats claw and have been using Samento too. There's no cure of lyme with ONLY one herb, I never heard of. There's maintenance of symptoms down AFTER you got treated and your levels of pathogens get down.

The research you see is based on the same group of researchers, it's not in my opinion, really 'true'. These researchers earn money with the patent of Samento. It's not a bad product, but it's not a miracle.

And as the previous posts say, not everyone reacts well to all products, antibiotics INCLUDED.
Lyme treatment is very personal.

Anyway, the lab tests won't be conclusive, they're just a hint/ help for your physician.

I would start herbal treatment if she's feeling bad.
Search here Buhner's herbs, you'll find loads of posts.

Knowing what "I" know and HAVE experieinced, I would NOT wait even ONE SECOND before I treated. AND I would NOT treat with Samento, to be sure.

I waited 5 months after being bit, and now I have chronic Lyme Disease. BAD, bad choice, waiting.

I don't know HOW long it has been since you were bit, but DO NOT WAIT. PERIOD!

The tests don't really mean much, symptoms DO!

Read BUhner's book Healing Lyme and follow that for the most part.

The longer you wait for treatment, the worse it will be for you in the long run. IF anyone tells you different, they don't know what they are talking about at all.

You don't say how long ago the bite was. If it hasn't been more than two or three weeks, go with Doxy or Tet right away, then add the herbs, and you will probably be fine. Otherwise?
