There is a clinic in Kansas City that treats Lyme Disease and other diseases that are very tough to diagnose and even tougher to treat.

You must have the finances to go (some insurance will pay and the clinic will help you figure out how to file insurance but if your insurance won't pay, you still have to) and you must have the support to be able to leave home for several days up to several months, depending upon the treatment, but I really think that this clinic may be the answer to many Lyme Disease patients' prayers.

The clinic's physicians insist that you stop smoking before they will treat you - smoking DOES keep you from getting rid of the inflammation that seems to be the cause of some of the Lyme Disease symptoms, but it is worth it.

The physicians run a LOT of tests and give you a real "going over" before making a diagnosis and/or suggesting treatment.

If you want to email me I will give you the clinic's name and phone number. There is a substantial waiting list. [group hug] [bow]

This is just my opinion and not medical advice in any way, but if I had a relative or close friend living here, I would also recommend the two docs here; one in south central MO and the other in KC that were mentioned by VOT.

I have gone to both before and still go to one of them for maintenance.

But, please do gather all the info you can about all the LLMD's you are interested in and that way, you can make an informed decision as to which would be best for you.

Yes, it is Dr. R. in Kansas City.

Thanks for any info. you have. I'm not connected to the clinic in any way and I haven't been - I don't have the resources to go. 2 of my friends went and said that it WAS expensive, but both thought it was worth it.

I just thought I'd pass the info. along - based on what PE and DB said (my friends). There probably are some other people who can afford to give it a try.

I did go to a seminar that was held by Dr. R. and I was pretty impressed by what was said - what is actually done at the clinic is what I've heard from my friends.

I've done very well on the treatment that I've received from my Internist --- he's all about learning and hasn't minded finding info. and letting me try different treatments. He's not a Lyme specialist but I am his patient and he's all about helping if he can. He says that he'll do all he can, and if what he can do doesn't help, he'll help me find a Lyme specialist. Luckily, what he and I have done HAS helped tremendously!

Best of Luck and let me know if I can answer any other questions - I'm sure I don't know much, but I'm happy to pass along what has worked for me and info that I get from others that I know personally.

I suggest the other 2 docs in Missouri if you are not rich but if you have lots of money go for it.

I also recommend the dr in Springfield.
