I was just wondering how far into babs treatment when others started feeling better instead of awful all of time?

Yes believe me I am very aware that just because something was one way for one person does not mean it will be that way for me.

I am just so tired of feeling terrible day after day year after year it just would be nice to know that others started feeling better at some point and gee

maybe at some point something will be ok.

I know its not really going to tell me how things will go for me... And I know it has no rational or logical relavance...

but I guess I am looking for hope... and hope really doesnt have to be rational or logical.

Back in January I was 15%. Now, when I'm not herxing, I'm about 80% ... I felt significantly better all of a sudden at 6 months treatment.

I'm taking 2 tsp. Mepron twice daily, plus Art, and Biaxin ... and other stuff for Lyme.

It's difficult to write how well I'm doing now because I'm in the middle of a horrible herx! [bonk]

Hi Azure,

I am much better, and it was not that far into treatment that I started to feel better. About 4 months.

The Plaquenil and Zithromax helped me and then when my doc added in Malarone, I finally lost some weight, got some energy back, my anxiety started to go down, my sound sensitivity got better, my headaches went from 5-7 to a 2-3 and then I could start to go out and do things.

Have hope, it WILL get better.

hugss to all... [group hug]

There was a big difference for me after about 8 weeks.

The first 2-7 weeks were the roughest. Got easier after that.

For those of you treating babs-was it a steady upward trend, or the usual-feel better, feel worse-I feel like I'm herxing every week? Woder if it's babs or something else.

Had a good month in July. August was awful

I never feel better till after I stop - then see much improvement in about a week or two - especially in energy, vertigo, general mood. The babs herx seems to be constant while on TX. Just my personal experience. But from where I WAS to where I AM now - about an 80% improvement overall.

Best improvement - I look forward to living instead of wishing for death. These TBI's so screw w/ our brains & brain chemistry.

Still looking for that elusive finish line - but aren't we all? [Mad]

It's a very long road but worth the struggle in the long run...

But then again - that opinion could change next month! [Roll Eyes]

Thank You for sharing your experiences. [Smile]

It's just some days I wonder if I am ever going to be able to have a life..

I have been treating for about 7 years now and I have been disabled 7 years...

About the end of april I started treating babs...
so hopefully sometime in this lifetime I will be able to work and live.

Sorry if I seem whiny its just the thought of being stuck in a life where I cant ever do any of the things that I had planned just gets to be difficult some days.

Hi Azure,

It took me a full year to feel better from Babs treatment. I took Mepron, Zith and Art. However, I think I had it for about 23 years before treating, so my story isn't typical.

I don't think I have fully knocked it out yet, but most of the really awful symptoms have resolved.

Have faith,
Melanie

For me it also took me taking a break to feel better. (This is typical for me on most treatment though.) I herxed and was waiting for the 4th month, when I kept hearing things should start turning around.

After 5 months I stopped and the dust cleared in 2 weeks and could see my progress. It was far from done but some improvement. (Too bad the doc decided 5 months ought to be enough. [Frown] )

Sorry for the whine. I hope things are better soon or perhaps ask the doc if you can take a small break to clear out. (Just a thought)

I, too, appreciate hearing the various responses since my 18 yr old son just started tx for Babs after a positive test. We're titrating up on Mepron and Biaxin and he'll be getting Bicillin beginning next week for Lyme relapse. He's only at 1 1/2 ts per day and already herxing.

Azure, I can see how you would feel discouraged--especially feeling like your life is passing you by. This treatment might be the missing piece of the puzzle for you...and my son, I hope.

Most people seem to say that it took at least a couple of months to feel improvement. I like the idea of a break at some point if you're not sure what's going on.

I've heard that Babs herxes can cause some severe feelings of depression. So, it's important to talk to someone if you need to and are feeling really "blue". Hoping for better days ahead for you.

Nancy

Azure wish,
I just started treatment for babs, and did a search here. I found an old thread, about 4 pages long. and analyzed everyone's experience.

A few felt better from day one and slowly got better. Some felt bad from day one, and from there, it was a wide variety of time before they felt better.

Some felt nothing until 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 2 months or some other time later, and then got hit with feeling really bad. One in this group was bedridden for a while.

Obviously, this was no help at all. The only pattern that seemed to hold for more than one person is that it seemed to get worse every 21 or 24 days and tended to last about 5 days. But that didn't happen to enough people to depend on it.

I'm afraid we're on our own here in planning our near futures. I'm just really hoping I hold together for a few weeks, since I'm going on a cruise soon, and don't feel too awful right now.

I started to notice small improvements after about 2 months.

I am still on treatment about 9 months now.

Initally the treatment was very hard to take. Anxiety, sweats, dizziness, chest pressure, shortness of breath. I increased it very slowly as I was told by my doctor.

I eventually got up to 5 tsp daily. I then backed down to 4 tsp daily.

Hope this helps!

felling better now. did babs for 4 mo. and now 2nd month of bart.

so, babs tx causing improvement? personally think hitting bart is key for me.

also, had gallbladder out (didnt know was bad until had horrific GB attack, then next month of h&ll before surj was done.

health has been upwards since then. have been able to cut out 2 mds, and decrease dosing of another sign. for me, that is HUGE

also began reiki and accupuncture with LLMD tx and neruo following closely. pain mngt dr as well on board

there is a light at the end!!

also, think zyflamend is GREAT supplement LLMD recommend for decreasing internal inflammation.

is exp.and have gone off for wk or 2, and def. difference noted. wish was not so expensive!!

I was treated for about 9 months with some improvement, but really felt better after switching azithromycin for roxithromycin 300mg twice daily, but that's just me. I get the roxy from India. Roxy is supposed to get into the brain and tissues better than the others.

I'm also on Mepron 3 tsp 2x/day, teasel root and boneset 1 dropperful 2x/day, doxy 300mg 2x/day, GSE.

Oh and Primaquine 1 tab daily.
