This is a new experience for me. Today after lifting my 3 yr old (about 40 lbs) and buckling him into a car seat, my nose began pouring blood with no warning.
Got the bleeding stopped, and wasn't too worried, but thought I'd mention it to my LLMD at next appt.
Tonight I was sitting up reading, and it happened again. No warning, just lots of blood, and some pretty thick clots.
Anyone else with this? Is this a Lyme, Babs or Bart symptom I've never experienced?
I've checked the drug inserts for all the new meds in my regimen (Biaxin, Bactrim, Synthroid are the newest), and nothing is listed specifically about nose bleeds.
My blood pressure has always been on the low side, but has been normal lately.
I did have an endoscopy with anesthesia on Friday, but that seems unlikely as a cause, since it's been 3 days.
Ugh. One more thing to deal with!
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated, Cactus

The first time I infused rocephin I had a nose bleed. It lasted on and off the first three days.
I actually think it is a herx symptom.

Hi Cactus --
I started having nose bleeds when I was doing alot of supplements --
It was about 5 yrs ago and from what I can remember I think it was from doing some type of Oils like Omega 3 or similar-
Sorry I cant remember more but maybe this will jog somebodies memory--
It has been discussed here about a year ago-
Anyways once I slowed down on the supplements the N bleeds stopped and did not return --

Hey,
Before I was diagnosed with lyme i had nosebleeds several times a day for months! My doctors were not too concerned about it and they went away after a month of Lyme treatment. I think they were Lyme related.

During the first 5 months of treatment, I had nose bleeds everytime I herxed.(26-29 days)
Try to keep a journal so you can keep track of your symptoms.
I know I was surprised to find my symptoms were in a regular cycle.
I'm more able to plan around them.

Just throwing ideas out here. I don't know if any of them are relevant to your situation.
Is your nasal cavity dry?
Are you taking anything to thin your blood? Supplements like fish oil, vitamin E and bromelain are mild blood thinners.
Are you bruising easily? Have you had your liver enzymes tested recently? I doubt the liver enzymes are the issue but I ask because my clotting factors changed when my liver enzymes became elevated. Changed clotting factors could cause a nose bleed. In me it caused a huge bruise with a single needle stick for a blood draw.
Do you have a sinus infection?
I think you should call and mention it to your LLMD if you get another one.

Thanks, everyone. I've called my LLMD & left a message.
Awoke with nausea at 3:00 am, sat up and realized I was having another one. Rude awakening.
I've checked my supplements, and I'm not taking any fish oils or bromelain (funny, was considering adding bromelain, but guess I'll hold off now). My multi has Vit E in it, but it's not new.
Hopefully the LLMD will have some answers.
Thanks for all your thoughts on this, Cactus

Had a couple of nosebleeds while on Mepron/babs treatment. Maybe a Babs symptom?

i've had them for decades! wasn't on abx or supplements as i didn't know i had lyme then.
had 2 nose septoplasties for it caused by DEVIATED SEPTUM! still get them.
i normally awake to nose bleeds.
knock on wood, been a long time since my last one! Posted by cactus (Member # 7347) on :
I've had several babs relapses over the past few years, so it could certainly be a babs symptom - but a new one for me.
Right now I'm on Biaxin and Bactrim for bart. Have no idea if it's a bart symptom.
Betty, you've had 2 septoplasties? Isn't that painful? Ouch. I'm glad yours have settled down, wonder if it's finally being in treatment...
I've been peeking through symptom lists, it seems like I've seen nose bleeds listed somewhere, but I can't find it now.

Seems to be the rule here that nosebleeds are related to Bart....but I truly think it is Babesiosis that causes it, as that co-infect causes bleeding/blood problems.
Absolutely ask your LLMD!

Cactus ~ Are you out there? Are you alright? What did the LLMD say?
I hope the nose bleeds stopped and you're alright.
I had faucet nosebleeds as a small child. (Some never quite identified clotting disorder.) Lots of cotton packing and cauterizations.
