I've been experiencig sooo much pain when I eat sweet, hot, cold, + sour foods. I am in extreme pain that I cry.

It seems to be painful when the food touches my tooth or gums. I'm not sure which.

I have been trying to figure out what's going on for the past 10 months, and the only thing that has helped is to refrain from eating.

Someone with Lyme told me recently that she went through a similar situation. So, could this be borrelia in my teeth, gums??

Does anyone know what can help pleeeaaase?? This and my other yucky symptoms make living plain torture.

Thanks for everything.

I have same extreme pain.

Oil pulling with organic sesame oil in AM seem to reduce inflammation. You can do a search here and learn more.

I don't know about tooth sensitivity but my gum sensitivity and inflammation got much better on CoQ 10. You can't take it with mepron though.

Also, liquid zinc and liquid folic acid rinses helps my gums.

pain in teeth or gums is probably and lyme
symptom.
pain in face and neck, ringing in ear and upper back may also be lyme.

sound like you may have a trigeminal neuralgia
this is the seven cranial nerve from the brain stem.

with inflamation of the nerve you get pain on
teeth, gums, jaw, sinuses, and cheek and tongue.

i had perfect teeth until lyme was treated,
then the neuralgias and i had to have 4 root canals on good teeth because they became too
sensitive to eat on.

try sensondyne toothpaste.
put it on your finget rub it around the gum line of all teeth, also inside.
let sit couple minutes.
then brush.
do this 2-3 times a day for at least 2 weeks to
see any change.
it takes 1-2 weeks before it "soaks into the teeth and works.

the dentist also has a sealant that can be placed on the tooth, at the gum line, that will also help.
as you get older the gum line recedes leaving an area of exposed root surface.
this can become very sensitive, usually starting with cold, then working up to total pain.

Long term abx will cause tooth deacy, as I just learned the hard way. Also, Babs meds will cause tooth sensitivity. I have cavities for the first time in a gazillion years. I eat zero sugar. MD says it is from the abx. It stinks. [Frown]

My dental hygenist recommended Biotene toothpaste and mouthwash. I found it at the Costco Pharmacy, but it is in other drugstores as well. I also had started Theralac prior to that, but I think it was the Biotene that helped the most. It has a very soothing feeling and great taste.

Primarily inflamed gums were the problem, but also just all over sensitivity. I had been using diluted listerine because full strength was just too strong, to try to keep the tartar from forming when I was on abx. Since starting the biotene, I have had had no tartar, and the dentist said the teeth and gums looked the best he had seen them in years.

Definitly worth trying.

Best wishes!

Ann

Thank you all so much for your helpful advice.

Susan, I've been doing oil pulling, but it makes no difference. I'm not sure why it doesn't help to reduce inflammation ...

I'll try CoQ10. Thanks Terry.

Doc, thanks for this info. I'm using a toothpaste for sensitive teeth, but if I touch the gum area that hurts, I feel like I'll have a stroke! It's just too painful. I just brush softly. I don't know what else to do. [confused]

Ann, thanks. I'll try Bioten. I'll try almost anything to avoid this pain.

Many thanks again! [Smile]

Certain abx (especially the tetracycline group) deplete vit B Especially Folic acid).. if that gets to a slight deficiency there can be redness/tenderness- if a deficiency actually starts the gum can actually slough off the skin somewhat and bleed.. It feels like your mouth does after burning it with hot pizza..

You may need to take a B complex with extra folic acid..if your on abx.

Jordan (17) has very sensitive teeth and he has been using Sensodyne toothpaste. Sensodyne didn't take away all of the sensitivity.

Jordan's dentist recommended MI Paste. So far it's helping and should get better the longer he uses it. He needed custom trays made for the MI paste.

Jordan doesn't have any other problems with his teeth. He does have checkups, cleaning and fluoride every 6 months. So far, no cavities.
