Ok, my mercury levels are high. I'm going to start with chlorella. Any advise on what brands or type?

The brands we use for preventive measures are Biopure and/or Nutramedix. I know both of these doctors who use chlorella extensively in their practices and trust that they check the batches frequently for purity. If their patients fail, they know it. Most chlorella is grown by many different people somewhere where we cannot see it, taken to a collection center thrown together with all other chlorellas, and then marketed to the highest bidder.
That's definitely not the stuff I would want to use to detox my body.
With either of the above, we know where the chlorella comes from and we feel safe.
Please read some of my posts on mercury detox. Chlorella only works extracellularly and will not have any effect on any of the mercury or other heavy metals that are stored intracellularly. For that you will need to use a different detox strategy. Be prepared --- it takes a long time and is not done in a few months. But you will be feeling better as some of the toxic load is reduced.
The only reason I am doing extremely well and have totally conquered Lyme is that I detoxed all toxic metals. Areas contaminated with mercury become immune compromised and are an ideal breeding ground for opportunistic organisms. However, it is not possible to eliminate the organisms before a reasonable amount of toxin elimination is accomplished.
Opportunitistic Organisms are: viruses (herpes, measles) Giardia and amaoebas, roundworms, threadworms, tapeworms, Strep infections and consequences (chorea Minor), molds and fungi, extracellular organisms (bacteria, fungi and mycoplasmas), intracellular microbes, etc. etc.
Lyme is just a few of many.
Good luck, Shoney.
Take care.

Thanks Gigi-I decided to start with chlorella first, then add cilantro. I thought any free floating toxins should go first, before I pulled toxins out of stored places. Please pm me if you have any more suggestions.

I use E-Lyte chlorella. It is grown in glass tubes so is considered safe because it should not be contaminated by mercury or metals in the environment.

Does chlorella have systemic effects or just the gut?

Does anyone know about Sun Chlorella? A local health food store told me that it was a good brand. Very expensive too!

That is the kind of Chlorella I used Shelly (when I was detoxing after a massive amalgam replacement procedure).
I think it helped.
Of course I won't know until I retest my mercury levels via EDS.
