I feel like I am in the twilight zone. both of my kids have been sick since dec. 2006. My son got in this order flu, tiredness, facial twitching, ringing in ears, ms, migranes, siezure, pnuemonia, surgery to remove infection in chest, extreme anxiety, depression, insomnia, suicidal thoughts, entered a mental facility, loss of concentration, memory loss. all in a 10 month period. at the same time my daughter started her period with irregularities, strep throat 2 times, tailbone injury being clumsy, mono, extreme exhaustion all the time, heart palipitaions, shortness of breath, tonsilectomy, hair going from frizzy to curly to wavy. She has had to drop out of competetive soccer obviously. one really bad anxiet attack at a dance probably because of the loud noise and crazy blinking lights. Anyway several people asked along the way have yall been tested for lymes. We have an appointment sept 12 which is not soon enough for me. I need some encouragment because i am not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. The dr is lyme literate as we are having to travel 6 hours to see him which i would travel 20 hours right now if i could see someone right away. please anybody out there talk to me as you know i cant think of anything else. we are just normal people trying to live life and this came in and has robbed my kids of one year.

I'm sorry it's been so hard on your and your kids.
I would tell you that Sept. 12 will be here before you know it, but when you're sick, 11 days is a long time. Hang in there.

I'm so sorry that you and your kids are going through this.
I agree that Sept 12 will be here before you know it and if this doctor is Lyme Literate, you'll all be on your way to getting better.
This place is here whenever you need it and is a great source of support and information!
Let us know how the appointments go.

Please be patient and stick with the LLMD appt on Sept 12th. This is coming from a mom of a child who was not treated properly for lyme from our peditrician and that was going on 3 years. We now have a LLMD and how much I wish we had him 3 years ago. It has been a very long journey for us. I wish you the best of luck, hopefully your doctor will begin antibiotics immediately and you will see some relief. Wish you the best of luck.

Wilsonshelby,
I am so sad you have to go through this and even sadder that your children have to go through so much. There is a book for children about lyme called Lyme Disease is No fun: Lets Get Well! that is published by the Lyme Disease Association. If you go on line you should be able to find it on the web site. I had my son read it so he could also understand what is happening to him. Stay positive. Your children should get better with proper lyme treatment. I've learned the hard way that getting better can sometimes take awhile. There are also set backs every now and then.
I don't recall if you said how old your children are but I know from first hand expereince that dealing with school can be difficult at times. You may want to get your children a 504 ot IEP plan so they have accomodations to help them through this. If you need any help with the school thing I can tell you what I have done for my own child.
