This coming Wednesday, I have my first appmt with LLMD...but I'm going nuts waiting. Anxiety, PLUS all this damn muscle twitching. My legs never go a full minute without some twitching, and I frequently get shoulder, arm and even finger twitching, too.
Has anyone here had such persistent twitching? If so, what can I do to lessen it? I've been massaging and stretching the muscles...which might be helping a little. Anything else to do?
If my LLMD gives me antiboitics, will that help lessen these symptoms? Or, am I sentanced to this horrible effect for a long time to come?

Hi Wxrock, and welcome to Lymenet!
B-12 & magneseum are your friends for muscle twitches. Lyme depletes them both & muscle twitches are the main symptom's for depletion of both.
I use the sub-lingual B-12's, 500 mcg's - I take 2 for a total of 1000mcg. Mag. is alttle harder to get enough of - it will cause loose stools at some point - take TBT (to bowle tolerence). You can also take hot baths in epsom salts to absorb alittle more & this will also help w/ muscle aches.
Also - when they get worse when trying to get to sleep, try some sort of heat such as a microwave moist heat thing. If u don't have 1 - u can make 1 w/ a hole-less tube sock & plain old fashioned rice. (Not the instant kind). Fill it, but leave room to make a knot in the end. Smells alittle funny the 1st few times u heat it, but that goes away after u have used it several times. Also a great relief when u have that crunchy neck thing happening. Can't live w/out mine, as something always aches,
Hope this helps - so run out to your 24 hr pharm & get them both, very cheap, wal-mart also has both.
Read as much as you can before your appt - there a lots of links to get u started here on this site.
Hope your twitch free by Monday! Let us know, and feel free to ask anything, someone's always around to help if they can.
Good luck w/ your LLMD appt! Your officially on the road to recovery. (((hug)))

Muscle cramps and twitches can (besides mag deficiency) also be copper deficiency. If mag fails, try homeopathic cuprum met 12X several times a day (could be you have used too much zinc and depleted the copper stores).
Take care.

The ABX will help. the mag and B complex will too. That's pretty much a guarentee.

Hi, Treatment is what makes symptoms go away. Once you are in treatment you will slowly but surely notice symptoms decreasing. Keep a daily diary, so you can refer to it down the road. This is one thing I am glad I did from day one. I just read mine regarding muscle twitching and I had muscle twitching all over my body, very scary. I have been in treatment just over a year and the muscle twitching is long behind me, it was one of the first symptoms for me to go.
Hope your appointment went well.
