I need to have my kids tested for Lyme and I am very confused due to all of the different tests etc.
What lab should I use? I used Ignex 4 years ago for myself and am wondering if this is still the best route? If I use Ignex, can I print an order form off from the website, have a dr. sign it and then they will send the kit to me?
What is the best way to convince small-town Texas Dr. to agree to have my kids tested? I thought about giving them a six-pack of Lone Star Beer - just kidding.
I made appointment with a LLD, but he wants them to be tested prior to the appointment.

IGeneX will mail the test kit to you, then you take it to the doctor to do the blood work and send it back in.

you joined before i started sending out my newbie package of links, advise, IGENEX DETAILED INFO, sypmtoms, tests, disabiliy, much more including treepatrol's archive of over 1000 sites of good lyme info.

Good morning.
Igenex tests 188 and 189 are the basic IgM and IgG panel.
That is what my children were tested with.
BTW, if you test 3 or more family members within two weeks,
Igenex gives a 15% discount so that each test runs $161.50 instead of $190.00.
Every little bit helps.
As far as convincing the doctor....well, since my own quest for Lyme and testing
Was futile for months (doctor's refusing to test me for Lyme),
I've gotten rather aggressive. I didn't ask my children's pediatrician.
I told her that I wanted this lab to run these tests on my children.
That's it. No discussion, no debate.
She does, after all, work for me. I pay her bill.
She agreed to write the order for the tests, but then I just bypassed her and went
Straight to LLMD to write the order.
When tests results came back, I shared them with their pediatrician.
Even though neither child was CDC positive, they both showed more than one Lyme specific band.
The pediatrician looked at the CDC negative and said "Oh good. They're negative."
I started to explain to her about Lyme and the Western Blot. Started listing children's symptoms.
She didn't get it and didn't want to.
I bypassed her again and went straight to LLMD.
Both children diagnosed and being treated for Lyme based on symptoms and serology.
Best move I could have made for myself and my children.
I didn't have the time or the energy to "educate" their pediatrician,
Who obviously was not interested.
I, of course was polite, but firm with my request for Igenex testing.
