Along with the muscle twitching, muscle jerking and Tinnitus, I have the following going on and wondered if I am alone.
When I lie down to go to sleep and upon waking up I can hear popping noises in the back of my head/neck area.
My head will be completely still and it sounds like a fireworks display at times. The real loud one makes my head jerk slightly.
Anyone else dealing with this? Thanks.

I get this too! Although mine also feels like ... oh dear, words fail me...okay. It's kind of like the sound a bicycle wheel makes when you put a paying card in it - k-k-k-k-k-k-k-k-k.
I have no idea what this is, but I seem to recall other people having this experience too.

I think it's related to an inflammation of the meninges and associated structures/tissues that most of us develop.

my neck grinds when I turn my head. It must be inflamation, one of my newest symptoms. It should clear with abx. Jenin

I still get that from time to time, in my rib cage. Popping and cracking noises are a good description.

I get this in my rid cage too...just two questions
1. is this lyme-specific?
2. does this indicate I have cardiac involvement?
Thanks,

When I turn my head, my neck pops seven times when i turn it to the left, and 6 time turing it to the right. Its very loud, and when people hear it, almost every time their jaw drops. apperently its pretty gross.
I have had this most of my life, as with the lyme. Not s fun symptom to have.

It is the actual cervic bones and ligaments making the noise and it it usually due to inflammation and tight muscles. I have had really tight muscles in my neck and head and it causes this problem for me too.
