Does anyone else wake up during the night with heart palpitations? This just sort of started. I wonder if it's related to babs (starting month 5) of lyme resurfacing now that bart/babs are knocked down.

Used to all the time....
Now after about three or four months of Ketek I hardly notice the "mitral valve regurgitation" I used to suffer from.

Ceftin has helped reduce my palpitations.
Although, I still take proponal to control my lingering symptoms.

I guess you call them palpitations, although when I think palpitations, I think "racing heart", which mine is not.
The "palpitations" that I get are more like the sensation that my heart is skipping beats every now and then...
It comes and goes, but it is scary... Right now, mine is being controlled with Toprol XL, but I do still get some days when it returns, though not as bad.

YES!!
I've been having the Palps in the middle of the night for about 1 1/2 years now! It's been terrible!
That's one of the reasons I thought of testing for Lyme, which of course came back +.
I am taking 600mg of Mag. a day per Heart Doc and it seems to be helping a bit. Also taking Anti-Anxiety pill at night helps.
I aslo have Mitral Valve Prolapse so maybe the Lyme is making that worse. Have you checked for that? I'm also starting on Babs ABX so hopefully that will help.
What ABX did you use for Babs?
So try Mag. + other supps like L-Carnitine, D-Ribose and CoQ10 and let us know how you do (:

I had heart tests when I first got sick-my heart rate was constantly @120. After IV it slowed down, but I still have POTS (increased heart rate when I stand). The night-time palps are new-I've been in tx for 1 year-tx'd babs, bart and lyme. I tried Co-q 10 once-seemed to make it worse.
Thanks all for your input

my palps started in 05. 30 day monitor showed major PJC's (in the junction of the heart) and PAC's they said they were benign
so didnt treat but they wear me out when they hit and they hit out of the blue! very cyclical
around my time of the month is the worst.

It's probably from the babs meds. That happened to me.
I've heard that waking up in the night with palps can be from sleep apnea. If your heart stops and then starts again, you're going to have palps.
I also have mitral valve with regurgitation and have found relief from CoQ10, magnesium and atenolol. I have to take the atenolol for tachycardia.

Lymetoo-are the palps from the babs meds themselves, or part of a herx? Maybe when I stop the meds, they'll stop.

Herx...in my humble opinion.

I don't really think its from babs medication.
I was taking that just last month and the regurgitation(palps or flutters) did'nt return.
I believe it is of course an interferrence from bugs in our cns or in this case the nervous system that controls involuntary bodily movements or functions.
I may have adequately killed off the pathogens surrounding my heart or at least the ones that control that flutter with the last dose of Ketek I took. So that would have been about the sixth dose of Ketek. With breaks and doing other abx in between.

Tutu is right. If you wake up with palps, check for sleep apnea. It is a serious condition and you can die if you have it and don't treat it. Search here, in this forum for more info about sleep apnea.
I started having a LOT of palps when I was using samento. I wore a monitor around for over a week and they were benign. They did make me really tired though. I was able to get rid of them by using colloidal minerals. I read somewhere that detoxification takes minerals. I think herxing uses minerals and this may be why herxing often seems to bring on palps.
I'm not a doctor, just my opinion.

Initially, my heart flutters and palpatations went away with increased magnesium.
However, they returned about 3 months ago along with this strange
Sensation of dizziness that started on top of my head and like a blanket, eveloped my body.
Saw LLMD. Blood pressure was in the 60's over the 40's.
Started cortef. Low, low dose at 2.5 mg for low cortisol levels.
Heart flutters/palpatations went away.
May want to check adrenal function as well.
BTW, I am treating babs right now. Feel as if I have been in the middle of a 10 week herx.
Some very mild palpatations noted, but nothing like the feeling I had before cortef.
Hope you feel better soon.
Hugs,
Geneal

Thanks everyone-my palps usually occur in the early morning hours-never that bad during the day. My acupunturist thinks it's my adrenals trying to "jump start". Very scary-just started happening 1 year into tx (4 months into this particular tx-zith/bactrim)
