After forcing my doc to test me for Lyme, I have just found out I have it. I am pretty upset to say the least and have some questions.
Does everyone Herx when they begin treatment? Do pain killers like hydrocodone and percocet help with the pain involved?
Is there anything I should do now to prepare myself for treatment?

Welcome to the board. I'm sorry to hear about the diagnosis, but at least you have an answer.
How long do you think you've had Lyme? Everybody reacts to treatment differently. Most people herx somewhat, but most of my herxes have been pretty manageable.
As you may have learned on this site, many doctors do not understand Lyme and undertreat it. If you post in the seeking doctors forum, you can get recommendations of LLMD (Lyme Literate Medical Doctors) near you. It's not an official specialty, just a term for doctors who are experienced in treating Lyme.
There are different types of pain you get from Lyme. My pain is mostly muscle related, and hydrocodone does help. If you have nerve pain, then you want to try a drug that works specifically on nerve pain.
In time, treatment should help reduce your pain. But, if you have very bad pain now, I would recommend getting a pain specialist to help with that.

Not everyone herxes, but most do. Do you have pain NOW?? If not, then your herxes may not involve pain.
I would go on a yeast-free, sugar-free diet to get your gut free of junk. You could have yeast problems in your gut now, and not know it.

Not everyone Herxes- Pain meds help some people- I went without but many people are helped by them- Find oyurself a LLMD- a Lyme Literate doctor- to prepare for treatment- and ignore all other doctors until then*)!!!

I do have an appointment with a LLMD I got from this board. My app. is on the 22nd of next month. My PCP scheduled me an appointment with an infectious dieases specialist on the 25th of this month. I don't know if I should go ahead an visit the specialist before I see my LLMD. I would like to get on some form of treatment soon as I wan't to start right away.

WEll, with a positive test...the ID duck might actually prescribe you some antibiotics!
Just be prepared for him to downplay any possibility of chronic lyme. If you were bitten years ago, he may not prescribe...I don't know.
DON'T give him the name or location of your LLMD!!!

You want to start ABX now or start herbal suppliments, or both.
Lot's of ABX work, some better than others, some only for some people, some for others, etc...
You might want to try to push to be put on either tetracycline (if you are not a woman who is trying to be or is pregnant) or clarithromycine (Biaxin) 500 mg per day.
