Hi everyone,

I am taking flagy, and feel really horrible. [puke] I was wondering how long everybody stayed on this nasty drug?

Also, did you find this to be the best cyst buster?

Thanks

flagyl is the hardest ABX to take besides someoe with a really bad co-infection and taking strong ABX for it.

I could not handle it very well, the most I could take was 1/2 a 250mg pill for 2 months and then quit it because it was hard.

Aside from the horrible taste that Flagyl gives it is a very tough drug to take but is usually very effective. If you get slightly feverish and slighly chilled and an all over terrible feeling its most likely causing a herx and thats good. I have taken it several times in the last few years for two weeks at a time. The highest dose I was on was 2150mg a day and I hated every minute of it but got through it and you will too.

Tindamax does the samething but with less side effects but costs alot more.

Hang in there it will get better

The hardest thing for me was the depression it caused. [shake] [toilet] It was rough!!!!

Be sure to stay away from any form of alcohol while on this necessary evil...and don't take more than your body can handle!!

I have been pulsing this med for the past 2 weeks and it has been really rough.

At this point I can't tell whether I am sick from a herx, or the flagyl.

I would take tini but my insurance does not cover it, so I am going to try to hang in there with the flagyl for another 2 weeks.

Is a month worth of a cyst buster long enough to treat this form of lyme?

Thanks

Probably not. As long as you take abx which CREATE cysts, then you will have to continue to knock them down and out with something like flagyl.

Flagyl was the most difficult drug for me to take, but it was also the most effective in getting rid of almost all symptoms. My LLMD wanted me on it for 6 months, and I just barely made it. But I was just hanging in there by a thread at the end. Black tongue. ugly taste, and depression are what I remember most. But when I stopped it I felt great for about 3 weeks.

Then symptoms started to come back. But never as bad as they had been before. That was several years ago--maybe 5 or six-and I think I was on a pretty high dose--500 twice a day. Also, back then I did not know about Theralac, which probably would have prevented the black tongue. I had been untreated for 6 years before I even got started on any abx, so that is probably why it didn't knock it out completely.

My current LLMD thinks perhaps I should try it again as the lower bug load might be totally conquered this time. And I have tried pretty much all the orals, but no IV. So I may have to put up with it again. But would rather not. Don't know if you have the type with the terrible taste, but someone on this board suggested a potato chip after taking the flagyl to cover the flagyl taste on the tongue. It really did help.

Hope you feel better soon.

Ann
