Anyone get ear aches (not infections)? It starts in right ear usually, and travels through to the other. It is a sharp pain, it lasts about 30 mins then is gone.

Weird! My LLMD did not know.

I would get something like that every two/three weeks. It went away with treatment.

I get that. I went so far as to see an ENT last year and he could find nothing wrong. It is very annoying, and of course docs think it's all in our heads!

I used to get the same type of pain in my ears. In the beginning before treatment it would occur once every month or two and last a couple of days. Over time with treatment it would happen about once every few months and last a few hours then go away.

For me Rifampin was the abx that got it to go way for good. Initialy it stirred it up worse for a few weeks than once the treatment was finished it stopped happening and hasn't come back for over a year now.

Zith gave me ear pain.

Are you on any meds?

Posted by EWT1638 (Member # 11315) on :

Yes, I take meds. I was on Zith, LLMD pulled me off abx for 3-4 weeks. Now I take Biaxin, Mepron, Plaquinil (sp), Flexeril and Klonopin, as well as a host of anti-depressants/anxiety meds.

Lots of weird stuff accompanies Chronic LD and Babs. I'm only into my 3rd month of treatment. I hope I don't have any other co-infections, it seems like people often are not aware of all their co.infs. for many months.

YES! Thank goodness, I am not alone on this.

This ear pain/pressure driving me crazy. I don't know if it's Lyme or Bartonella, but I've had it for a year now (from the very beginning). My ears have been checked a million times but I'm always told they're normal.

Ear pain is probably the worst aspect of my recent herxes on Bicillin. I think it may be connected to sinus problems as well (which I never had before Lyme and have become exaggerated while on Bicillin).

For me, it's a fierce pounding pain that corresponds with my pulse, which suddenly gets thunderously loud, as if my ear drum is beating along with my heart. The pounding gets louder and louder as the minutes pass.

It occurs at night as I'm trying to fall asleep, sometimes it can go on for over 4 hours. I blame it for my insomnia. [Frown]

I swear both of my ear drums are going to pop very soon. It reminds me of the ear infections I had as a child, where the drums would burst painfully but bring immediate relief.

If I hear a loud noise, it reverberates very painfully in my ear and makes me feel extremely tense.

During the day I hear a crackly noise in there or a high frequency buzzing. So strange, I tell you. [confused]

I noticed that it is worse when I sleep on my side. It helps to lie on my back.

I really wonder what exactly causes it, and hope it's not a precursor to permanent hearing loss or anything more serious.

Sorry about your ear pain. I have not had that kind of pain, but my hearing has been effected, just cant hear like I use to and it seem to come on so fast. At times from nowhere I will get the sound of water trapped in my ear when moving my heard.Like i just got out of the shower, Hope your pain goes away with treatment.

my experience is different. i do have intermittent sharp ear pain in both ears-usually at different times. once it was so bad i couldn't drive home on a trip. after many months of trying to figure it out...diflucan works! so i'm guessing its fungal for me.
