I've just gotten an email where someone is asking if Ankylosing Spondylitis could have anything to do with Lyme?

I MY opinion....YES. I think Lyme can cause a host of other illnesses.... and maybe it was MISdiagnosed.

absolutly. Lyme loves the CNS, joints & connective tissues. Your back is a big joint with lots of connecting tissues and disc. I may be mistaken, but I think discs are listed in the lyme symptoms list.
The most pain I have is in my back/neck & butt area. I was diagnosised with spondylitis in my neck at age 29, years before my actual lyme diagnosis. Before that, never had a problem at all with my neck.
I am not a doctor & of course this is just my 2 cents.

I have a lyme friend who was diagnosed with this, and his non LLMD figured it wwas due to Lyme Disease.
It sounds like it to me.

i was diagnosed with cervical damage throughout the neck and a lot of lower back disc damage. they, too, diagnosed AS.
I know now that it was lyme...although the damage does show up on mri's as disc.

I think I have AS. Does anyone know if it would show up on an X-Ray? I recently had an X-Ray for GI reasons but nothing was mentioned of my back even though in terrible back pain. Would it have to be found through an MRI?
Have had severe lower back pain, especially in morning, for about 4 mos. now and have been putting off seeing doc about it. What kind of doc should I see?

Phyliss Mervine was diagnosed with AS and talks about it in Pam Weintraub's book, "Cure:Unknown".

Those are great links, tickled!! My cousin has AS and she also had Lyme. So I worry that I may have it. I have sacroiliac pain all the time... and many spinal problems.
