My sister has had symptoms of Lyme Disease which date back a few years ago when she got a rash, has had bells palsy, arthritic problems and fatigue. She still has symptoms today.
She went to her GP and he said he would do an antibodies test only at this point and If the results are negative she dont have Lyme. He said if it is positive, then he will do a Western Blot.
Can the Lyme just be tested with the antibodies test alone? Or should she get a Western Blot?
I told her to see a LLMD but I am curious if anyone has input about what this GP is doing.
Thanks,
Rob

I would have it done at IgeneX, like I did.
MDL?
Her doctor will only do antibodies test at hospital.

"antibodies test" is ELISA. She might be "lucky" and it turns out positive, but most likely it won't.
My IFA antibodies test (similar to ELISA) was positive thru Igenex, but negative at the hospital.

if her rash was a Bulleseye the testing is not necessary...She really should follow up with an LLMD regardless of how the ELISA comes out...
