Have been horribly sick for the past 3 months, terrible fatigue and all the other symptoms. Night before last, my typical low grade fever spikes to almost 101, I get terrible chills, and several hours later wake up drenched. The next day I feel the best I have felt in the past three months and still feel pretty good today although the fatigue and other symptoms are starting to come back.

Am I crazy???

Definitely sounds like babs.....but it could be Lyme also.

The following signs/symptoms may be present in those infected with Babesiosis:
Fatigue
Arthralgias
Myalgia
Drenching sweats
Headaches
Emotional lability
Depression
Dark urine
Splenomegaly
Dizziness
Nausea and vomiting
Cough
Dyspnea
Fever
Chills
Hepatosplenomegaly
Jaundice
Malaise
Shortness of breath
Bleeding tendencies, bruising
Thrombocytopenia
Hemoglobinuria
Hyperesthesia
Pulmonary edema
Encephalopathy
Low to normal range leukocyte counts
Possible elevated levels of dehydrogenase, bilirubin,
transaminase*
Anorexia
Approximately 25%- 66% of Babesia patients are known to be co-infected with Lyme disease. These symptoms may continue for long periods of time, decrease, then return. A low Babesiosis titer (IgG) often indicates a chronic infection.
An acute or current infection may show a higher reading on the IgM test initially. There are over 100 species of Babesia in the United States but only ONE or TWO species are currently checked by commercial labs.

Hi

Yes I am pretty sure I have Lyme. I had the bite last summer with the bullseye rash (but didn't know anything about Lyme until about 3 months ago when I saw photos of bites and knew that's what I had) The past year I have been ill and seen every type of specialty known to man AND have had every test possible run. I have all the typical symptoms with crazy bloodwork to match. Additionally a Lupus doctor ran an ELISA which came back EQUOVOCAL last fall but a Western Blot wasn't run until this summer. It only came back positive for the 41 band so my GP says: NO LYME and passes me off to an ID which I haven't seen yet and the Oncologist. All say they know something is wrong but no one can tell me what. . except the Rheumy in Bham who told me this week there is no LYMES in AL and I have Fibromyalgia! I am going to see Dr. F in La as soon as I can get in. Every other speciality has ruled out any other diagnosis: cancer, GI issues, RA, Lupus, Hormones, Thyroid (I had Graves in the past but it's been in remission for 3 years). . so by process of elimination and my research I am pretty sure that's what I have. I am sorta new to this website so I am slowly but surely learning the ropes. I am changing my eating habits drastically and hope Dr. F will get me well soon. I am so sick of being sick. I have lost a year of my life and do nothing but work and sleep. Thanks for all the input!!!! I appreciate all of you.

P.S. What is HERXING????

Sounds like babs was my first impression before reading other responses.

Babs is malaria-like, hence the sweats and fatigue. It's hard to treat but treatment does work as I have babs and am doing really well w/treatment.

Good luck!
