how much does a rocephin treatment cost? if you have bc/bs, will they pay?

can you take rocephin pills instead? is it a last resort treatment?

anyone critically ill with lyme that has gotten better with pills instead of iv's?

See the top of the page for the post on generic Rocephin.

As for insurance, it depends on your specific policy. What works for one BC/BS doesn't always work for another.

That's all I know about it. Hopefully someone with more specific experience will be along soon to give you more info.

I was on a PICC with rocephin therapy for 7 months.

My insurance covered one month of treatment after having to appeal their denial.

The rest of the treatment was done by a local pharmacy to the tune of $15,000.

I don't regret it. I felt so much better afterwards. I just wish I would of had the money to do a few more months like my doctor wanted.

I've read on-line about getting rocephin shipped to you from FL less expensively. You might want to research that. (I have a mental problem with ordering medicine in the mail or on-line)

So, now I'm doing holistic therapy. Bioresonance treatments are helping me. (Less expensive too)

Good Luck!

If you are going to order rocephin, what is your schedule? 4on 3/off or 7day's week.

I got mine out of florida, its the Ceftriaxone (generic rocephin) and it's a good generic.

I get it from Home care solutions out of Florida. Their info is on one of my other post. I pay $70 / day just for the meds. It's the self pay price. $70 is for 2 ea. 2gm packets taht include the saline with them in in a iv bag. You sqeeze the seal on the iv bag and connect to your line.

They want to sell you the entire package for $130 / day, but i declined the supplies ($65).

good luck

My BC/BS paid 100% of 6 weeks of treatment. Originally it was ok'd for 4 weeks by them, and then after 4 weeks and no improvement, my doctor(PCP) only got them to pay for 2 more weeks. That was 2002.

Two weeks later I was going to travel 8 hrs one way for a LLMD appt. Tested IgM WB positive, highly positive with 11 bands. Antibodies alert.

I've never seen someone sx free with only 6 weeks IV, so ask up front how much treatment your insurance plan will cover. It usually takes months and months for improvement and many combos of oral with it.

California has many posts on her experience with IV rocephin.
