My Fry coinfection test just confirmed babesia infection amongst other things.

I will be talking to my LLMD and would like some info about what Rx medications you have used together for babesia.

I have been on doxy for about a month so I'll be hitting it relatively early in my treatment I suppose. What Rx combination is considered to be the best start for babesia treatment?

Thanks so much for sharing your experience.

I was diagnosed with Lyme in early June, started treating that - then after seeing my LLMD in early July, she diagnosed me with babs. I started treatment for that in early August with mepron/zithromax. I was only on that for 3 weeks, but it seems to do its magic for that time period.

I've been on biaxin since then, and I have another 2+ weeks of that before I see my LLMD on 10/25.

Good luck.

Thanks for the replies so far. Does anyone know how mepron compares to malarone? I think the LLMD's nurse mentioned I'd be getting malarone. Is that effective for babs?

Please continue to post your babs meds and experiences. Thanks! -Despin

Although i did not test positive for Babesia, after a year of antibiotics for lyme with insufficient progress, my LLMD put me on two months of Mepron/Zithromax, and then said the Babesia is probably gone. The Mepron/Zith stopped the faint-night-sweats-on-back-of-neck which occurred about once a week or two weeks.

I've been on antibiotics for 3 1/4 years; with great progress against lyme; but now it seems that i have a few possible Babesia symptoms, such as: a crumbled tooth that was pulled; faint-night-sweats-on-back-of-neck at irregular intervals such as 4, 7 or 9 days; somewhat dark urine at times; slightly warm several times in one day ,(my attempt at a fever); low lymphocytes; slightly anemic; etc.

I've been eating some cardamom as recommended by Hardynaka, and it seems to help! (unreliably subjective). Cocoa with cardamom is great!

I did many bottes of mapron w/ zith - during TX can hardly get out of chair to go to bathroom. Plus, the lights were not on if you know what I mean. Friends thought I was dying, and I was pretty sure they were right. That said - followed by much improvement with in 2 weeks of stopping.

Also did 8 weeks of Larium (not at same time as anything else) - wouldn't take it again. Headache like I never experienced in life before. Came on the 1st day & lasted till 2 - 3 weeks after stopping. Thought I was going to have an annurism (sp...) Also followed by much improvement later.

I liked the malarone the best. Good cyst buster too. Felt like I had mexican jumping beans having a fiesta in my body. Also followed by much improvement. Did relapse sooner on malarone. But -it stopped the 8 yr eye twitch dead in it's tracks, never to return and am very grateful for that; Plus more energy that I had had in yrs.

Going Buhner's herbal route now - but haven't started the cryptolepsis for babs yet, so can't comment on that 1 yet. I'm waiting for daughter's sports season to be over before giving that a go. Hear it's strong & if it puts me down, I don't want to miss the end of her great season. But I'm interested to hear about what others experience is/was w/ it.

IMO - If you can go down for most of the mepron TX - and I do mean DOWN...go for it. If u need to hold onto feeling like your among the living, go for the malarone. Larium wasn't a good match for me - but it has been great for others - everyone's different.

That's my low-down on all my babs TX so far.
Hope this helps you!

zithromax, mepron, plaquenil...been on all 3 for a week now, zith and mepron for 3 weeks.

kinda discouraged with nerve stuff right now but overall I have improved...much more with it mentally, at least on the good days.

the herxes can be pretty discouraging especially if you don't know what they mean...ie am I getting better or are these the actual sypmtoms punching thru? many on this forum lead me to hope it is just herxes

confusing the pic slightly are all the meds I use to treat the symptoms, ie neurontin for nerve stuff, vicuprofen for connective tissue stuff...

It looks like I am going to go on Malarone for now. Thanks all fo you for sharing your protocols for babesia. My LLMD uses this to treat babesia over the mepron/zith combination but I have an appointment in Dec so will do more research betweekn now and then. I am just at the start of treatment and am hitting it early in treatment so I guess I have plenty of time to try the gamut of things. Just praying it will work for me and improve recovery. Thanks to all of you for the support and sharing your valuable insights.

Been treating babs for 2 years, and still fighting. I've been on mepron/zith/alinia, zith/alinia/plaq, zith/flagyl/clindamycin, zith/ceftin/plaq/art, ceftin/flagyl/plaq/art, and finally now zith/flagyl/clinda/art. So far the "big winners" for me have been flagyl and alinia, and art, but it is slooooow going.

I seem to be the only one on ammoxy/biaxin/plaquenil for babs. First dr treated H.P. with a lower dose of same drugs then she upped it to go after the babs. She has said nothing about the standard treatment you guys have been taking and what I have researched.

Hhhmmm.
