Has anyone had vocal tics develop in relation to Lyme? My 12 year old son has developed anxiety, obsessive compulsive behavior and vocal tics during the past year. He was treated for Lyme in 2002 and we are currently retesting for Lyme and co-infections.
Thanks.

Judy,

I have motor tics that the neurologist said were very similar to Tourette's tics. He did research for me and discovered that motor tics can develop with Lyme and can be a temporary symptom that just disappear on their own.

In my case, they diminised greatly. I exepect from Omnicef and B-12 with folic acid.

I'm PMing you the neurologist's name, because he is in Northern VA. He's not lyme literate, but he's lyme friendly.

I have OCD and have had it since I was little. No medication, antibiotic or otherwise, has ever alleviated my symptoms.

My symptoms did, however, disappear for a year and 3 months during a time period when we had moved. I strongly suggest you investigate the possibility that your son's OCD and vocal tics could be the result of some new electromagnetic field from perhaps a new cell phone tower or cell phone - or even a computer, play station, or other EMF source.

See the links in my signature. Good luck to you!

I just read the bicycle boy story. Wow. That family was so fortunate that a connection was made and that Lyme was treated. It was an orthopedic doctor that screened my son for Lyme a few weeks ago because of joint pain.

I recently have felt my son was one doctor's appoinment away from a Tourette's diagnosis. Now that the Lyme is being revisited I am not so sure that it is not all connected.

Tailz- I have been observing and searching for tic triggers. I know they are worse after school and while playing some video games. I will keep the EMFs in mind.

Thanks.
