Well....can I say "you told me so"....everyone said the spinal tap was a bad idea....dumb me...

I went ahead with it and it didn't go well. First off the doctor hit a nerve and I about jumped off the table....then I went dry (whatever that means) three different times.

Then came the headache.....thankfully I got the blood patch pretty quick. Of course, they found nothing in the spinal fluid that showed lyme.....of course I don't care about that....western blot confirmed that I am positive.

I did get the picc line inserted. That didn't go well either. It took four times to get in and the first time they completely missed the vein and was running it just under the skin...ouch!!!

But I am getting Rocephin 2000 mg per day....while in the hospital I was getting 4000 mg per day.....

I am now at home and will continue with the infusions daily. Has anyone else had any luck with the Rocephin???

I haven't heard of this drug, but that doesn't mean anything....until a few months ago, I also knew nothing about lyme disease!!!

Sorry about the bad experience. Many people on this board have had success with Rocephin. The trick is to not stop too early. If you stop while you are still symptomatic, then you will relapse.

Many doctors only treat 1-3 months. But you really can't just stop after a date without looking at symptoms.

I don't remember, do you work with an LLMD or not? If not, then you might want to consider finding one in your area to ensure you get long enough treatment.

Well, we won't say "I told you so" to your face, OK?? [Wink]

Glad you got the PICC line in and are receiving Rocephin now. Be sure, as Aniek says, to not stop any sooner than you have to.

And be sure your dr follows up with orals and flagyl to take care of the cyst form of the spirochetes.

Sounds like you need to do some more reading!!
