My co-infections were all negative on the Igenex test. I thought a co-infection might be keeping me from getting better but I dont think that is the case now. Real discouraging that I'm not better after a little over a year of treatment and I was only sick a year before treatment...

Byron- I was completely negative for babesia at Igenex. The only thing found at Igenex was one type of ehrichia. I did the complete coinfection testing at Fry Laboratories a few months later- it gave me a positive for babesia and for two forms of ehrichia.
The babesia and ehrichia were both clearly seen in the bloodsmear. For me, Fry labs was more useful than igenex and found positives igenex did not find. I was bummed, but it's better to know what you are dealing with. Maybe additional testing is in order?
Some people have posted their blood smears from Fry on the board so you can see what they look like. My LLMD was very impressed with the quality of their pictures and testing.
Have you been treated clinically for any coinfections? What are your worst remaining symptoms?

Me too....no positive co-infections tests at Igenex. My LLMD has refused to run the F. Labs test though. I'm being treated clinically for bartonella.
Byron, what are your symptoms. What does your LLMD think?

They don't have a website for Fry labs. The location and phone number are at this site: http: www.airparkmed.com/dctrs1.htm. They are located in Arizona. You have to call and ask to be transfered to Fry Labs at reception.
I believe you can call and get a kit sent to you. Then your doc can sign off on it. It might be worth a shot. Maybe it's a lurking coinfection that is slowing down recovery.
I don't know why the Igenex (or more labs) do these blood smears. I felt like the Fry tests were money well spent although from what I hear many LLMDs treat coinfections clinically. I don't think my LLMD would have in my case if I did not have positives.

If I recall- $495 for the FULL panel that includes all titres and the blood smear. I think 2$295 for just the blood smear.

Byron, have you taken any meds for babesia yet?? Your doctor WILL treat for all coinfections.

I did the cylinda./quin. for like 2 weeks and it was in the beginning of my treatment and it was so hard to tell if I was herxing to lyme or babesia. The bicillin shots are not working for me so next will be Zithromax and Mepron or Malarone along with starting heat therapy.

Why only two weeks?? Seems to me if you herx on this combo, it's babesia and it's working.

my fry labs blood smear didn't show any babesia, but my labcorp titer test was the highest my doctor has ever seen!
so i guess you just never know what test will show what.
