We're considering purchasing a unit as a Christmas gift to each other and wondered about this unit. Those who are knowledgeable - is this a good unit? a good price? anything you'd recommend instead of this?
My daughter has used the cheaper tent version from the same company. We have had it about a year, and it is one of the best things we have added to her comfort and treatment.
I would like to use it if she would let me.

there were two recent treads on the topic - but it was more of investigating the subject in general and individual heaters for a home made sort of arrangement.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I got very sick from that exact model. I have severe MCS (chemical sensitivity) and it out-gassed so strongly I couldn't even have it in my house due to neurotoxic and respiratory reactions.
They say it's "non-toxic", but I've since read that there is no such thing as non-toxic wood glue. And while they do use mostly nails, there is a significant amount of wood glue between the inside panels which out-gases when heated. They only use wood finish on the outside but it still out-gassed too.
I read on a sauna yahoo group that others with MCS have reacted to it as well (although the company denied these complaints).
most people probably don't react to it - for example, my friend thought it just smelled like a furniture store (when the sauna was heated)...furniture stores are dangerous places for people with MCS...but to her it smelled good! she's healthy and was unaffected by it (knowingly anyways).
It LOOKS great (on paper AND in person) - looks just like the higher end saunas, but these are mass produced in Chinese factories and cheaper than other saunas for a reason!
Even with a dr's note, they wouldn't give me a full refund so I had to sell it locally which was a huge hassle. I was really upset about the whole thing since my dr thinks I really need a FIR sauna and on paper this one looked good. the ones that are truly OK for MCS patients (Heavenly Heat for ex) are way too expensive for me
again, it may be fine for people without chemical sensitivities but I thought I'd share my experience.

Hi, I bought a sauna from the same company off ebay. It was a 2 person for 999.00...I offered them 899.00 and they took it free shipping. had it for about a year and it works great...good quality....Mike

Hi, We just purchased a FIR sauna recommended by my LLMD, my naturopath and the chiropractor down the street who deals with mainly MCS patients. This one they swore by, after having returned two other saunas due to it giving their patients headaches, etc. It is expensive but comes with a lifetime warranty and is NOT built in China (one of our requirements) but is built in Arizona.
The owner of the company does all the customer service and will get into long discussions with you about the merits of his all-poplar, non-toxic epoxy FIR saunas.
For what it's worth, this is the sauna that is used by the big MCS center in Dallas, and is recommended by Dr K. up in Washington.
Thank you for the info on Heavenly Heat. I can see I'll be saving my pennies for a while brefore we can do this thing... Better to do it right than fast, though.

Others have also been happy with the High Tech Health Saunas...not sure what they cost, but it's definitely up there too.

Some "High Tech Health Saunas" DO have plywood and, therefore, fumes from the formaldehye, etc. I have seen the plywood first hand.
A friend of mine got that brand. She has MCS. had to air it out in her garage for a long time. (When she called the company about the smell upon arrival, and many times later, she was told that the cardboard must have been what smelled).
Then she brought it into her home. Every time she used it got much more ill. Called company. they just kept telling her to use it for just a few minutes as she must be overly sensitive.
After months and months her doctor got a notice that this company did sell some bad saunas.
she sent a letter to the company, asking them to take it back and refund her costs. they would not.
I've seen the plywood in one of the pieces she pulled off of it. It is shocking. I used to build furniture, so I know wood and I know glue.
I assume the company has corrected the problem in what they ship out now, but IMO I could never trust them. They did not do right by one customer, so how many more? They tried to get away with using inferior material before. Will they again?
It is especially sad in that she counted on this to help her get well and it's made her even sicker. (note: different company from the inquiry of the first post.)

I bought the 2 person version from this company. I didn't notice any wood glue. I think it works great and always feel better after using it. I saw it on ebay as well and offered them 900 and they took the offer - that included the shipping.
