Hi Everyone. I'm on my last day of doxy... Ive been on it for 30 days.

I feel like i'm not getting proper treatment because I still feel awful! I can't sleep because of my pains and aches.

Right now my back of my neck hurts, my shoulders hurt, and my knees are bad.

I'm waiting on insurance so I can see a DR. again but I was wondering if anyone had any advice?

Thanks@

Hi Nepa,

I have some great advice if you are willing.

I was diagnosed with Lyme (late stage) in 8/05. I was diagnosed with Rheum. Arthritis 1/06. The RA diagnosis was much more devastating to me than the Lyme.

I researched the internet and quickly found a number of causes to RA (duck rheumy told me "we don't know what causes it and we don't know how to cure it, but we can slow it down) I just couldn't accept that.

How happy I was to learn of so many possible causes to my joint pain.

The first and easiest to implement was a change of diet. I found this information at www.drmcdougall.com. He has run many trials on folks with RA using a vegan diet. He links leaky gut syndrome to RA and said "Try the diet for 2 weeks. If this is your problem you will see a significant reduction in your pain."

It costs me nothing to try it and within 2 weeks my joint pain dropped by approximately 50%. I went from not being able to stand for more than 5 mins to walking 2 hrs before having to sit.

This sent me in search of a doctor who believed in and understood leaky gut syndrome. Under his care I went from a high moderate RA to a weak positive (test verified by the duck rheumy)

A leaky gut allows parasites, fungi and partially digested food into your bloodstream. Depending upon where these foreign bodies go in the body dictates where and what kind of pain you will experience.

Check out his website. Even though you have not been diagnosed RA, you are having significant joint pain. Inflammation is the cause of that pain and you need a doctor to determine the cause of the inflammation. It is probably more than just lyme. A vegan diet is the least inflammatory diet you can eat and only takes 2 weeks to tell if it is going to help.

Thank you so much. I'll take it into consideration. I have been a vegetarian since I was 6 years old... I'm 25 now though. But, I can use all the help I can get. Thanks

Hey Nepa(_!(__!(!

I would go to the Seeking Doctors column here and get a good LLMD. 30 days is not adequate treatment if you are still symptomatic.

Take care,
Best wishes,
Sarah
