My pressure has been high almost a year. I tried many meds, nothing worked, the only thing that helped was toprol (heart rate high too). they told me to just accept that I have hypertension now. No risk factors, cholesterol low. But my mom does have it.
I have been on antibiotics 2 months, and my pressure is down! anyone else have this happen? I knew I couldn't have hypertension.

My blood pressure, when I had some degree of health, was always reliably 100/60. Meds for depression and anxiety seemed to lower my BP even further to 90/50 maybe - I forget now.
Something though seemed to change within the last several years with both my heart rate and my blood pressure. My heart rate was high enough for a doctor to put me on metoprolol (?). I took one pill though and stopped the medication because it felt like my heart had stopped.
I would suggest you buy a gaussmeter and research the health effects of (manmade) electromagnetic fields. Your blood pressure and heart rate may be dropping again now that your infections are being addressed, but I am finding that artificial electromagnetic field exposure is actually encouraging my own infection.
Since we don't live in a bacteria-free world, I think it's imperative that we shut off some of this electromagnetic chaos soon, because they're winning.

I had blood pressure that was a little high for me, checked it for about a month every day. When I started doxy, after a couple days checked my pressure and it was down nicely, and has pretty much stayed at a good level ever since.
I was surprised to get a result that quick, or that my bp had anything to do with lyme, for that matter. Of course, I've got some other symptoms that are still hangin' around after 8 months. Strange.

This was the very first symptom I had reversed. For a year of my five of being "undiagnosed", they thought I had a pheochromocytoma (excreeting tumor of the adrenals).
My lab work was elevated, but they could never actually find the tumor in scans but one of the symptoms was major blood pressure spikes. Spikes to the point that I was being shipped off to the ER from dr's appointments.
I started with Amoxy and shortly after to Cipro and in that time frame, no more spikes or bouts of high blood pressure.
I too had been put on various meds like Toprol but since I had these spikes, it would also make it drop too low, so none of the blood pressure meds worked.
It's amazing that Lyme was the culprit of so many things that doctors just wanted to give me band aid drugs for, but yes, more and more reversal of various symptoms all through treatment.
So yes, roro, I definitely know first hand that abx can make the blood pressure go down (atleast in the cases of lyme).

It's the opposite with me. I've always had very low blood pressure (80/40 - 90/50). When I first started taking abx, I noticed it go up a little bit. Then it seemed to level out and it went back down again. Now, that I started Rifampin, I noticed it has gone back up. By up, I don't mean a lot, I mean to a normal blood pressure of 100/60.
It's good though, I suppose, since my blood pressure has been so low that it's kind of worrisome being that low. Posted by luvs2ride (Member # 8090) on :
My bloodpressure went up with the disease. Vit C brought it back down and keeps it down. I discovered this prior to beginning antibiotics, so I don't know what effect the abx would have or now have.
Bloodpressure remains really good and I continue 2000mg Vit C after many months of 6000mg daily.

Identical experience to Hoagie. My pressure was always a bit on the low side. When I became ill, it went up somewhat, and as soon as I was treated for a few weeks, back to where it has always been.
I suppose they will always say did your improved state of mind after successful treatment trigger that change, but I really don't think it had anything at all to do with anxiety, etc. Never was an issue in previous stressful times! I definitely thought it was the Lyme.
And, Hoagie, after 10 months of treatment, many of my 40 or so symptoms have gone never to reappear, but some are still kicking around, and I've even experienced a new one or two here & there. However, overall state of health is massively improved, and that's what I try to focus on. Very, very bizarre and frustrating illness.
