How did most of you find out you had food sensitivities? Was it a blood test or saliva test? My holistic Dr did a saliva test, but most people seem to do a blood test (rast).
My stomach was doing well, now. it's killing me again.

I think elimination diets are the best way.

My daughter doing a blood test sure simplified the process for us. I never would have thought to eliminate "bananas" from Carolyn's diet.
Getting the results in print also helped my role as overseer for the do's and don'ts.

I only tested positive for an egg allergy, though they only ever tested me for the 'most common' ones, so a lot of help that was. I asked to be tested for several panels, but my doctor seemed more concerned with whether or not it was okay for him to order the test than he was with whether or not I had an allergy to them.
Don't go strictly by the blood tests though - they are helpful if you happen to pull a positive, but by the time all was said and done, I was sensitive to pretty much everything - milk, eggs, orange juice, foods high in vitamin A, all grains, root veggies, all monounsaturated fats.
I can eat canned peas, grapeseed oil, sea salt, turmeric, grape juice, and sometimes cinnamon. Some other foods I can eat occasionally, like tomato, but then my bowel movements lighten up and get mushy - though not like they were - unless I get zapped by too many cell phone towers or high-tension power lines.

Bloodtest from the ALCAT labs did it for me. Cutting out my allergic foods dropped my joint pain to near zero.

Does anyone know if the scratch IgE tests are more effective than the IGG blood tests? I know some allergists and GIs have different opinions.

I've had saliva and bloodspot IgG both...
diagnos-techs, inc. did my saliva and said i was gluten intolerent...
I did a blood spot IgG (for 30 antigens) from Metametrix ... came back with soy and low milk allgergin...
I eliminated them from my diet and certainly helped with joint and GI issues....such a HELP!
at first I felt worse, but I stuck with it and boy amd I glad...It's a year and more later and
I feel its really one of the reasons why I'm inproving....
Don't expect to see results right away....it takes time..
