It has been my understanding that chemotherapy kills cells that grow and divide quickly.

This includes the cells of the intestines, hair follicles, and cancer cells.

Lyme bacteria grow and divide every 28 days.
That is slow.

BTW, CoEnzyme Q10 can help a person getting chemotherapy to tolerate it better, according to research.

I need to know what drugs. I tried to search for info & there's a lot of research referring to ABX as chemotherapy for Lyme.

I also had read that antioxidants could have a protective effect on cancer cells. I'm not sure right now where I found that study, but I think I had already forwarded that to you? (not sure)

If I didn't & you want it I'll try to find it again, just say the word.

you can respond. thankyou.and thankyou carol for the info. i knew of cancer wearing sneeker's and could run like hell in my body.they did.

i didn't go with the 5FU . would have been the third and final dose...i began losing hearing and the ringing in my ear's worsened...

i can't recall where, and this is entirely hearsay, but i actually remember reading about a woman who had cancer and lyme simultaneously, and the chemo ended up putting the lyme into remission as well.

My husband was treated with Cytoxan, a chemo drug, for four months last year. It did not cure his Lyme or help his "autoimmune induced pulmonary fibrosis."

My wife has had Lyme from 1983. She had all of the crazy symptoms. Of course she was misdiagnosed many times. When the internet came functional in the late 90s I begin to figure out what was going on.

Then in 2003 she came down with stage three breast cancer. Both breast had to be removed and she started 14 months of chemo.

The doctors didn't expect her to live more than 6 months.. We had one of the top chemo doctors in the world. She used some experimental drugs that was like a nuke. What did we have to loose?

During the treatment the chemo doc remarked what strange reaction my wife was having to the drugs. I knew it was Herx reactions. But I didn't dare say a word to the doc.

My wife survived. PET scans showed the cancer gone. One strange thing happened. She was like a new person, After all those years of lyme. I could hardly recognize her.

She had energy, she held down a traveling job. I could hardly keep up with her. I concluded that the lyme was gone. No more sleeping all day and no more crazy symptoms. Even the chemo doctor was puzzled.

To sum up, I believe that the only sure cure of Lyme is a chemo treatment as cancer. If the darn ducks would get their heads together a series of drugs could be figured out...

From a quick search of Borrelia and 5-FU, I found that 5-FU is used in preparation of tissue samples, when testing for Lyme. It is an antimicrobial to which spirochetes are naturally resistant.

Perhaps it may have been killing off good bacteria or stressing your immune system and thus giving the [cussing]

ketes the upper hand?

It may be time to get back on some Doxy (Doryx disolves in the intestines) or some IV Ceftriaxone or something. [Roll Eyes]

Or maybe if they'd be willing to give you ABX that Tx Lyme along with the 5-FU, that might work? I don't know if that would be a safe proposition though since the Keets are so freakin tricky and the cancer chemo drugs are so harsh in themselves.
