My wife started treatment (doxy) since August 1st. She had bad and good days intermittently.

But recently she had a great run: 3 straight weeks of good days, symptom free, and we felt the finish line may be near.

But just 2 days ago most of her symptoms came back: chest tightness, heart palps, leg pain, fatigue. I wonder if it's a delayed herx due to Dr.Z's babesia herbs started 2 weeks ago.

My question is: how many good days (asymptomatic) in a row is considered good progress?

Do many people here have several weeks asymptomatic?

I have yet to have several weeks without symptoms. I am lucky to get several days. This sounds like great progress to me.

It sounds like great progress to me, too.

It sounds to me like your wife may be having a herx. They happen cyclically for many of us. I do pretty well between herxes, but during herxes feel pretty bad. The cycle can be 21-30 days ... for most women it coincides in some way with the menstrual cycle, though that is not true for me.

Its great progress. I didnt get weeks on end symptom free for YEARS after being on abx. I get that now, but I was taken down in 2002, and Im still yet not completely symptom free on those days. If I push it, I pay for it.

Keep going with the good work. It sounds like she is herxing, and that may or may not come each and every month around about the same time ( or have no pattern at all).

I've been sick for three years. Last year, from about Aug - Dec, I felt the best ever; with about one day a week of feeling moderately symptomatic; but nothing major. Then my LLMD switched me to another ABX to "root out the rest of the Lyme." I haven't bounced back since.

I have had the SAME experience over and over again as you describe; and would be rich if I could count how many times I thought I was nearing the end.

The good news is, it means I'm optimistic. I'm also now on the right track; finally being treated for Babesia where I never was before.

I guess I have finally accepted I'll never see "the end"; I've just been sick too long. But I am damned sure I'm going to see remission, AND that I am going to spend most of my life there, and not here!!!

You've got some good input here. I would just add that some of my sx (heart and air hunger) were relieved with CoQ10 and L-Carnitine.

The air hunger was terrifying and worse with herxing. We know it was the CoQ10 because I stopped it to take Mepron and my sx / herxes became unbearable.

So started it up again and those sx stopped. I still take 400mgs throughout the day.

Don't try it unless you have medical approval - don't know if there is a problem with Dr. K's protocol.

The very down side of my Babs herxes was that I would wake up from a deep sleep. I hardly ever slept as it was....tough stuff.

I wish you both the very best in the battle.

Oops - I have about a week to 10 days of 'really good' the key for me is not to make up for the 'healing' days. Or I pay dearly.

Universal lyme law of mine - sensible rest and can't do too much detox.

I'm working on my 4th month with zero symptoms.

For 1 yr I worked with a doctor treating completely holistically. He took me from housebound to working fulltime, riding horses as often as time allowed. I was not in full remission, but was well on my way.

Then May 07, bit again and got sick with old and new symptoms. Since I felt this was a recent infection, I sought out an ILADS LLMD. She treats integratively (abx and alternative).

Turns out I have Babesia WA-1, H.Pylori, EBV, QFever. I absolutely believe the Babs came from this recent bite. I had not had fatigue or heart palps before this bite.

My adrenals were flat and she said until we get them working, no point treating anything else. So first we supplemented the adrenals. Then we went for the H. Pylori with ammoxy, biaxin & prevacid. This brought full remission within 30 days and I remain there.

I also take CoQ10, (dr said as much as I can afford) For me, that is 400mg daily. Magnesium supplementation is also helping and again dr said take as much as I can tolerate.

We have not specifically attacked the babs yet but I am no longer having any symptoms.
