I have a problem and is's getting worse.

I started my abx treatment one week ago and I am having what I consider a serious stomach distress, heartburn and nausea problem.

Am very miserable and in bed a lot.

I don't think it is a hertx. Do you?

Began my treatment as I said aweek ago, 2 days of 1 Doxy & 4 Nystatin

4 Days --4 Doxy & 6 Nystatin

2 Days--- 3 Doxy & 6 Nystatin

My most serious distress started 3 days ago and was mostly late afternoon and evening, today it has started already this morning

I find talking to my llmd very difficult. Long distance and relaying everything though a 3rd party. Not to mention a fee.

I remember him mentioning using Hydrochloric acid pills but not sure if this when you use it

Could the problem be caused by the Nystatin? Could it be a yeast problem?

In short WHAT IS MY PROBLEM?

Should I go off or change my dosage?

Your help will be appreciated.

Thank you

Rose

Doxycycline = [puke]

In short, it's about the most throw-uppy med there is.

I'm thinking that's the trouble.

Here's a few tips, in case it helps.

Eat half your breakfast. Skip milk or dairy altogether. Pause halfway. Take your doxy.

Then eat the rest.

Then, in about 2 hours, take your probiotic pill.

THAT's how to take your doxy.

With lots of food on both sides of it!!!

And do not lie down for half an hour after taking it, as it is rather caustic stuff and can actually ulcerate your esophagus if you're not careful and if comes back up.

Sit back in an easy chair and wait it out if you feel queasy. (Been there and done that. Yeeechhh.)

I doubt it's a yeast problem.

Sounds like a typical doxy stomach rebellion thing.

Try those tips for a few days and see if it doesn't improve.

Our hearts DO go out to you. It's a rough drug to endure but makes a world of difference and should start helping you.

Everything Michelle M said!*)*)!!!!

It's the DOXY!!!!!!

I was on Doxy for 2 years and had to learn all that stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doxy= nausea & nausea & for me vomiting unless I ate it with oatmeal or starchy foods in which case I was fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did great things for me though!*)*)!!
Best wishes,
Sarah

Yep, it's the doxy. Do what they said. [Smile]

Take a GOOD probiotic ... Theralac and Ultra Flora are the ones I take regularly ... they have many different bacteria and high levels of them (20 billion organisms).

Also take saccharomyces boulardii.

My LLMD recommended that I start Prilosec with the Doxy, one per evening ... take continually as long as on the med. It helps with heartburn.

And, don't lay down right after taking it .... when I was weak, I'd prop myself up with pillows so I was sitting more upright.

I agree, it's the doxy! My LLMD told me to take it with meals, and I haven't had a problem.

A good friend of mine, who had been on a lot of abx, had an immediate reaction when I told her I was on doxy.

It was that it will kill your stomach. I assured her I was fine, taking it with food.

Try mastic gum. That's the only thing that helped my stomach. It kills h-pylori, which I tested negative for, but it still helped some.

If you just CAN'T tolerate the doxy, then ask for doryx. It is basically doxy, but easier on the stomach.

I was recently taking doryx for the first time and it was a BREEZE compared to doxy!!
