How fresh does the blood need to be for an "accurate" Western Blot? In other words, is week old blood too old to test, assuming it has been stored properly.

The reason I ask is that the WB test was supposed to have been run a week ago, but Quest! decided to supercede the doctor's orders and not run it as my Elisa from 6 months ago was negative. Now after talking to the PCP's office manager, they will run the test after all.

At least that is the story I am getting, and my hopes of it showing anything have gone from zilch to none. [Frown]

I guess this all begs another question too - how long to these labs keep your blood, anyway??

I know, I know. But I am also currently working with a PCP that calls the Western Blot the Western "Block". It isn't easy to find a doc in this neck of the woods to sign off on an igenex test. [Frown]
