I'm pretty chemically sensitive.. Have very bad neuro symptoms (electrical, buzzing, brain feels like lava lamp). I'm better than I was (being treated now). But don't want to get worse. Scared spect will make me worse. Also radioactive tracer -- I'm afraid. Should I be?

Is the spect scan going to be of your brain? (sorry if that is a dumb question! i only ask b/c i once had one of my liver)

I had a SPECT SCAN done aroud '95 and it was a piece of (gluten-free) cake ! However, that was a while back. Not sure how or if it's changed.
I am very chemically sensitive and I had no problems with it at any point in time. I had my organic carrot juice all ready to go afterward, though.
I assume you've discussed what this test can do for you and are clear in what you are looking for or to rule out. This test will show some stuff, not other stuff. If you don't have to, I wouldn't unless there is a clear benefit.
Do you have a LLMD ordering it? There may be some specific instructions regarding what a LLMD would need.
And if the radiologist (or whoever) reads the test is not LL, I hope you can have the pictures and text forwarded to your LLMD. A doctor trained in lyme knows what to look for.
A SPECT is far easier on you than an abusively noisy MRI. If you choose it, I hope it goes well and offers insight.

Yes they are a piece of cake.My problem was lying still due to spasms.
Print this page and take it with you,give it to the technician,and ask them to put it with the x-rays so the person reading it has some idea,about lyme spect findings.
I'm the oddball here. I had a SPECT scan done - also have multiple chemical sensivities - and this was BEFORE I had any knowledge of microwave sickness or electromagnetic sensitivities.
But right before my test, I used the restroom. Don't know what happened, but as soon as she started the machine, I had the urge to pee. And it was not just a mild urge either - I struggled for 45 minutes with it.
I would never let them radiate my body again now that I know none of these fields are safe. That's my opinion.
