My doc just presribed Lyrica for nerve pain. I have tried neurontin before but it screwed with my vision quite a bit.
It is a fairly new drug (I believe). I went to pick it up at the pharmacy, I about **** when I saw the price. I told them I couldn't afford it. I called my doc and she gave me a packet to get a 7 day trial, and if it works, she will help me fill out papers to see if maybe the makers of it will pay for it.
Just wondering if anyone has tried this drug, and if so, did it help?
Also, for some of those, like me, who are financially strapped, talk to your doctors to see if they can help you fill out papers for assistance with your meds.

Hi:
I take Lyrica and LOVE IT, my new BEST FRIEND. My sister also takes it for shingles.
The first week on it you will feel "Out of it" like a "HIGH" and dizzy, PUT UP WITH IT, it will PASS, mine did within 3 days. I take it 3times a day 25mgs. My sister takes 75mgs 4 times a day for her shingles.
It does help with the pain, it does not take it all away but my neck and knee feel 80% better while on it.
I take my first one at 5:00am when I get up to get ready for work.
I hope it helps you, it did me.

I too was recently given the "trial" to try Lyrica. I couldn't get past the side effects, so was given the half doses and told to take it every other day.
But for me, I seem to be so darn sensitive to so many meds and had trouble with it, so not taking it anymore.
With that said, there are so many that say that if it is the right drug for you, it is totally AMAZING!!!! Hopefully you will be one of those people.
And yes, it isn't cheap, so I definitely hear you. It will be worth it if it can get rid of the pain for you, but dang, hate going in the poor house over all these meds, huh?

Hi!
Neurontin helped my dd some, but the lyrica is helping more!
She takes it with Cymbalta (our insurance co has it as non-preferred but not lyrica).
Her doses have been increased several times for both.
She also takes Ultram ER now, but could tell the lyrica helped before adding it.
Pain is never gone, just manageable.
She also has narcotic pain meds that help keep her out of the ER.
When she developed shingles she was already taking max doses.
Hope you find relief. If not keep asking and searching!
Good Luck, MommaK

my doc is considering this for me. Could you give me an idea how much $$ we are talking?
