Hi,

I'm new here, and have a question about my daughter's recent lab results. On the first page it stated "total lyme ABS" and then gave a number afterwards: 1.69 -- which was listed as very high.

I have looked everywhere to find out what "total ABS" means and cannot find it. I was wondering if any of you know what "total ABS" is?

I appreciate any help you can offer!

P.S. I have been to many different sites.

WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME!*)*!)}
!*)!*!*)!*)!*)*!)!*)!*)*)!!!!

My daughter had Lyme & Babs & had been in full remission for over 6+ years now. I hope yours gets there soon*)*!)!

Hmmm... FTB-ABS is a blood test for syphilis...
the FTB stands for fluorescent treponemal (treponema pallidum is syphillis) the ABS in that stands for antibody absorption test...
So I would assume the Lyme ABS is the same
but for Lyme-
Best wishes,
Sarah

She probably had the ELISA test that tests whether antibodies are present in the blood. I believe over 1.2 is positive.

I'm sorry she has Lyme, but be happy she has a positive test. It makes getting the proper diagnosis and treatment easier.

Hi Sarah:
Nice to hear your daughter is cured.
How long did she have to be treated for?

The main challenge with my 3 year old is to know when she has become asymptomatic in order think about stopping abx i.e. is she just having a cold? Is she just being cranky? Or is it the Lyme?

How did you determine treatment endpoint for your daughter? Was she old enough to express her symptoms?

Hey Yani*)!*)!!

My daughter was very small when she was sick & treated- but she went from being a normal one year old to at 18 months having an autistic presentation which reversed in just 2 weeks of cedax- and then was able to complain about "It hurts, it hurts!" all the time. BUT then she had persistent (and blood positive_ babesiosis ) for hte next phase of treatment- and we treated her until she turned seronegative- we tried a couple times to take ehr off Mepron & meds beacsue she seemed well- but when we took her off her cd57 scores plummeted to 0!!! (0!!)

When at long last she got a negative Babs test we took her off and voila she did not become symptomatic as she had the other times. She was fine*)!*)!! She has been fine for years now!!

She would say, "It hurts, it hurts." and she had visible redness at knees so that was clear-
She was obvious frankly- when we took her off meds she would be in pain in a few days- it was Babs not Lyme though- we had kept treating her for Lyme before finally we caught on it had been Babs- She went off 3 years of abx/Mepron when she was 5!!

Best wishes,
Sarah

Just fyi Yani- yes- she was VERY verbally precocious, PRE Lyme she was speaking in full sentences at one year and knew over 40 words- and when we took her off amoxicillin initially she would get worse quickly (just like me) and would non-stop complain, "My knees hurt, my tummy hurts, my eyes hurt!" "Light hurts my eyes Mama, light HURTS my eyes!" Photophobia.

Also, WEIRD thing. Swingsets!!! Pre-Lyme & babs she LOVED the swing. After she got sick she got motion sickness easily, the swing made her tummy hurt!!! When she got better again, was first time in 3 YEARS she could go on SWING!!! Without her tummy hurtinG!!! No motion sickness!!! (weird, I know, but true!!)

But as she was blood pos for Babs that was pretty clear- and when she went sero negative we took her off and she was fine*)!!!

Knock on wood,
best wishes,
Sarah
